Nice water. Super expensive to lounge.
Unless you’re staying at a hotel with an affiliation on the beach front, you’re going to likely pay for chairs. You’ll also need to get down there early - 8 or 9 am - to get chairs/loungers. For the places that don’t charge you for chairs, be careful on the markup on food. Family of five saw a bill of +€500 after they ordered a few drinks and snacks. Beers were €65 per 😮. But the water is great and some of the restaurants there are fantastic.

    Overpriced
Compared to Ornos, I preferred Ornos. Both are insanely overpriced - food is daylight robbery and only rich people surely will pay 50 euros for Sun beds for the day. Also gets less sun than Ornos later in the afternoon

    Beautiful beach!
Beautiful beach, 40€ average for 2 sun-beds and an umbrella. Luckily we stayed at a beach hotel so got our beds for free. You can also lie for free at the end of the beach on the sand. There are around 6 lovely restaurants to choose from and the bus stops right at the beach. Avoid DK OYSTER bar, they offer free sun beds and then charge you over 500/600 euros for a couple of drinks and food.

Sun beds cramped together but nice sandy beach
Many sunbeds are cramped together, but the beach is sandy and clean. I came to swim every day but did not rent the sunbeds because there are too close to other people. I still enjoyed the area, many restaurants and shops and it was pleasant. It was a good area for dinner and enjoying the night's views.

    Lovely beach, beautiful water.
Lovely beach, a small area if you just want to sit on the sand. Plenty of beach bars/sun beds if you want them stretching across most of the beach. Clear lovely water and soft silty sand make it a relaxing place. I personally just sat away from the beach bar on the sand and listened to the music.

Lovely small sandy and accessible beach with several good Hotels, bars and Restaurants right on the beach. There is also a handy beachfront shop which sells most of the supplies we Brits need ( Tea bags, milk, razors, etc…)

Platis Giaolos is one of a stretch of five beaches that you can easily walk between. It is at one end of the coastal walking path, Paradise Beach is at the other end.
We walked from Paradise to finish at Platis Giaolos but you can just as easily do the walk the other way around.
We didn’t spend long here. It is a pretty commercialised beach, dominated by sunbeds which are so close together that you can’t walk between them and it looks like a traffic-jam. A long stretch of resort-like beach-clubs, hotels and restaurants run along the waterfront. The now notorious DK restaurant/sunbed hire place is here and we were careful to steer clear, giving it a wide berth.
We much preferred the lovely little Agia Anna Beach next door and the nearby Paraga Beach, but Platis Giaolos still has a lot going for it - crystal, clear water, a long curved stretch of sand and a beautiful outlook with private cruisers and boats moored offshore.
If you’re planning to explore several beaches then Platis Giaolos is a good starting point. We walked the very scenic coastal trail, stopping at Agia Anna, Paraga, and Paradise beaches and the Scorpios mega club. A water taxi also runs between here and Paradise.
GETTING HERE: It’s very easy to get to/from Platis Giaolos. Buses run between the beach and Mykonos town throughout the day. We caught the bus at the end of the day, back to Mykonos town - took about 15 minutes. The bus stop is up from the beach, opposite the Petasos Hotel.

Got to beach at 11am - not too many people, decided to order pina colada - 64 euros!!!! Was so angry but I had not checked price - two other people from US ordered 2 wines and appetizer and presented w/bill for over $300 - they exploded and started screaming they were not going to pay - menus do not have prices, bed so close together you couldn't walk between - FIND ANOTHER BEACH!

The beach itself may be nice, however it is so awfully overcrowded with (overpriced) sunbeds that it is practically impossible to walk around or strech your hands without touching your neighbor. Sunbeds are literally everywhere from the sea level all the way up to the beach bars. West end of the beach was smelly and there were people selling fake stuff. Also, there is the "most famous" beach bar DK Oyster. Read its reviews before taking "free" sunbeds.

Beautiful beach BUT BEWARE OF DK OYSTER BAR/SUNBEDS. (GO to terrible reviews to read more.) “free sunbeds if you buy a drink” $400 for 4 watered down drinks and an appetizer.
