- Peter TAmbarvale, Australia59 contributionsWonderful experience with a true feeling of Malaysian culture.A wonderful place to visit. See the craftsmen and ladies hand paint the Batik cloth then take your choice of beautiful hand made Batik blouses, shirts and ladies scarves. The staff are very helpful with no “pushiness” to buy. Top class clothing and 5 star experience.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2024

- SuratrichardSurat Thani, Thailand2,513 contributionsSo skillful! This was a fascinating experience and the skill and patience of the workers has to be seen to be believed. Apparently, approximately there are 20 employees, although we saw about half a dozen. I think it’s quite rare to see such concentration over a long period of time. After a factory tour, there is a large shop selling batik clothing, batik pictures and batik cloth. Within this shop is a much smaller Gift shop. Prices are very reasonable. You won’t need more than a couple of hours at most. Highly recommended.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten August 26, 2024

Went there with family last month. Workers were very professional at their work. Their art pieces were beautifully done which make me wanted to get some back. The only downfall are the snobbish staffs. We were told we would be given only 2 min very quick walkabout around the factory as there are expecting a large group of visitors coming soon & we needed to hurry up. What the hack! At the back of the sales shop is the batik printing factory. We saw a big group of ang mohs (western tourists) & a few staffs entertaining them with explainations & laughters. Guessed they had all the their time in the world to be there. They treated them as first class buyers & sad to say we, Malaysians as poor buyers. We were out of the factory when 2 min were up. We lingered around admiring the batiks at the shop. Another group of western tourists were there having great fun as the staffs showing off their batiks on how to be used. When they were leaving, the staff opened the door saying goodbyes, thank you'd & waved to them as they left. When we left, we weren't bothered. Glad we didn't buy anything as it's not worth to spend my monies there. This shows how they treat fellow Malaysians as they are also one too. Don't look down on Malaysians! Westerners monies are also paid in Malaysian Ringgits so are we or other Malaysians.

Hey... this batik craft factory is producing authentic batik materials... that's no doubt. We admired all these batik clothing and in the mid of wanting to purchase... but when we saw some foreigners went to the back to watch the production of these batik... we try to follow too. However, we were rudely questioned by the staff and telling us there are rules need to follow before going in. My thought was, why a bunch of foreigners could go in and out the production area without restriction but, for Malaysia visitor like me, I have been held back and need to go thru all this so called "batik tour" that restrict our visit. That's the double standard of these staff towards Malaysian customer.
I would like to point out the staff was snobbishly demanding us to follow and demanded us to listen properly what she needs to say, demanded us not to wander without her permission... just assume us like her student... she explained in stony sad face... seems she wanted to vomit upon us. When she entertained the foreigners, she could smile like an angel... what a pretentious woman.
Throughout the boring tour.. the staff showed her impatience and sad face.... I think I was really lucky enough to meet this kind of person in this Penang... I never met once in my life... thanks for opening my eyes here...
I hope this batik factory management will take this seriously as the staff's attitude ruins the batik factory reputation. if the person is the owner, then I wish her luck... if the staff is just a staff, please don't try to be bossy here....
I think I am not the only one feel this bad treatment, other reviewer felt the same.

Such a long way from George town. And such a disapointment in the end...showroom has plenty of low quality items. Nothing special. Little workshop for turists.
I would say the way was more exciting than the destination point. We took a bus from George town..it was intresting to see the life, villages, beaches and famous 'love isle'.
But batik factory is just not intresting at all.We went out with no purchases. I wonder where we could buy something special authentic...beutiful. Sorry for this review. Hope it will help for the further improvement.

This is my second visit in as many years but the attitude has not changed. I came with 2 of my friends from Hong Kong to see the crafting of batik cloth and do some purchases. The staff are not friendly even when we wished them "good morning" with no reply. Factory visit is a rush with the aim of quickly pushing you to buy items. We wanted to see more of the making of batik but visit was curtailed quickly. I smiled at the batik craftman but no return smile and I wonder why they are all so unhappy working there. I shall not be taking any of my friends there again as I can buy in town.

This batik factory has a great selection in the shop. Will also allow you to see the process if you call them up ahead of time.
