Projecto Tamar offers a nice option in town for families, particularly for those with little kids. The turtles, small sharks, and other animals are fun to see. There are guided tours available and feeding sessions (that could be more informative). There is a "Yellow Submarine" which shows a few deep water animals and requires an additional ticket. That took about... More

It is a nice place to be visited and an important work is done there. You will learn a lot about turtles living in Brazilian seas, about other fishes but also you will admire a lot of them in basins. There are a lot of activities special design for. The entrance fee for the adults is 22 reais but it... More

A corner for children and sometimes plays for children. Most of the signs etc is translated in English, however not all. They also offer guided tours. Great place... More

We arrived just in time for a tour at 3:30pm. We were able to see turtles and sharks. Our 9 year old had the opportunity to feel a sharkskin while it was being fed. We also saw when two turtle nests were dug after a previous night's natural hatching which normally is followed by digging for newborn turtles and subsequent... More

small site with a few big turtles and other fishes in different tanks/pools. We were able to also see some baby turtles. Our kids enjoyed it, especially as they were never fast enough to see a sea turtle outside on the beach (there are a few).

Nicely laid out place, not huge, good info (in Eng) about turtles and how they are helping to protect them, lots of people there when I visited but didn't feel too crowded. Located right at the bottom of the main street -good way to spend an hour and a bit.

Learning about the Tamar project and their years-long effort to help protect marine life in the region is fantastic. This is my fifth visit, and this time with children, who marvel at the turtles, fish and even nurse sharks in the park. I feel however that the animals in the complex are somewhat 'abandoned', and could be better cared for.... More
