Thoiry is a rare example of esoteric Renaissance architecture where the sun rises or sets in the central arch following the solstices. Home since 1559 of the Counts of La Panouse, the drawing rooms offer visitors fine family portraits, furniture...more

I'd been to this zoo once before and loved it (fantastic drive-through safari park and zoo, and a chateau - takes a full day) and suggested to friends that we go and see the new lantern festival while they were in Paris for a few...More
Unbelievably spectacular and amazing. The beautiful walk through the woods amongst the animals and the wonderful temple, Château and son et lumiere on the back of the Château de Thoiry were quite amazing. The hard work making every image in silk and fine steel and...More
We decided to take our toddlers along one day in september.
Entry was quick although the car park is quite confusing for first timers, they really should have someone outside to guide you, or better signs!

We had no interest in the zoo but wanted to visit the chateau, having read about the scientific interests of its first occupant. Alas, there was nothing about this at all, except the statement that one room was oriented according to the sun. (We found...More
We had visited Thoiry Zoo about 10 years ago and decided to re-visit. A new place for kids is available (jumping on nets up high and an Omega with a very long waiting line). The Zoo is fun, but not extremely invested, it could be...More

Hello. From Gare du Nord take Metro Line 4 (Direction 'Montrouge') to 'Montparnasse Bienvenue'. Follow signs to the mainline station of Gare Montparnasse. Where you take a train to next depends on how you want to visit the park. Bear in mind that without a car (or taxi) you will not be able to visit the drive-through safari section, but the single entry ticket means you will still be paying for it. If you are happy to miss the safari tour and just see the zoo, gardens and chateau, you can take the train to Villiers-Neauphle-Pontchartrain from where, Monday to Saturday, you can catch the No. 78 bus (Direction: Mantes) to Thoiry (get off in the village centre - no buses on Sundays). If you would like to go on the safari tour by taxi, take a train to Montort l'Amaury-Méré (just one stop/5 mins further than Villiers-Neauphle-Pontchartain) but book a taxi in advance to meet you at the station. You would need to arrange for the taxi to take you around the safari and then collect you later in the day to go back to the station once you've seen the zoo, gardens and chateau. It's a full day's outing. SCHOOL HOLIDAYS SHUTTLE BUS OPTION: if you come during July & August, or the half-term holidays in October, there is a zoo bus service from Montfort l'Amaury-Méré train station at 09:36 on Wednesdays and Saturdays which will take you around the safari and back to the station again, leaving Thoiry at 17:02. Further information on the zoo's website.
One other option from Paris is to take the PARIScityVISION tour bus from central Paris. They pick you up in Paris, take you round the safari, and drive you back to Paris at the end of the day.
