Heike, our tour guide, was fabulous! She was full of wonderful insights and information about the industry and processes . We really were not prepared for such a great experience. Plus, the ride up to the mine was thrilling ( not for height averse people). Do not miss this!

The tour and the tour guide were excellent. However, the start point is hard to find; GPS was not able to find it, so we had to call for directions. Once we arrived, it was great.

We signed up for the private tour of the Carrara quarries, and we’re driven up into the heart of the stone cutting area. Although we had a car and guide to ourselves while driving, the tour was given to 3 vehicles full of travelers. The 2 guides were very knowledgeable about the stone cutting process and had unbelievable access to the active quarries. We highly recommend this excursion!

We do have a word of advice for the guides: given the active nature of the work going on around us, a few words of introduction and advice about safety, before leaving the meeting place, would have been helpful. We had no idea what to expect, and therefore there was some confusion among the group about expectations.

My wife and I paid for a private tour including rt from the train station.Well worth it for us. Exciting but rough 4 x4 adventure into the mountains of marble. Excellent explanation of quarries worked for 3,000 years. The group tours heard our guide/driver give most of the information at the photo stops but some had to sit on benches in the back of one of the 3 vehicles or be 6 in a Land Rover. That would have been too uncomfortable for us. This was a “ not to be missed” experience and met our value for money standards.

Driver was very informative. Felt safe all the way up the mountain in our jeep. Went on a Saturday so no workers felt like we had the whole area to ourselves.

Whatever you have heard or seen on TV or YouTube about Carrara - forget it. One MUST have to see and experience the marble quarries "live". The vastness of the collection of sites is breathtaking. The ease with which truck drivers and guys handling huge machines navigate the steep rubble tracks is aweinspiring, as is the precision with which the marble is cut out of the mountain and then handled almost with a "soft" touch as if these blocks didn't weigh several tons each.
And we wholeheartedly recommend doing a tour with this operator. Heike is not only knowledgeable but also very friendly, patient with her guests and she goes the extra mile to make this tour an unforgettable experience.

Our private tour was more just a private jeep. When we arrived at every site, our private guide spoke to a group of other visitors along with us. Hence, there was no private experience.
The Carrara marble tour, viewing the the mountain and stone, however, was quite extraordinary.

Hi John. As you wrote, the tour was extraordinary and you had a vehicle (with private guide on board) only for you. Inside the active quarries, during the working time, we must optimize the place and the time for the explanations, just because the safety of the guests. During the transfers between the 4 stopping points, you enjoyed of course your private driver/guide which was at your complete disposal. Thank you for coming

Highly recommend this tour! We had 5 in our group. Led by a wonderful German lady named Heiki, we were led up into the Carrara mountains in a Jeep. She explained the process of the marble mining and we were able to see all aspects. We did the "Inside Marble"
tour so we got to see how they mine it from the inside. She was an amazing driver and handled the jeep very well on the steep ascents, descents and hairpin turns! Everything about this tour was great! Only 40 Euros per person and well worth every penny.
