I cannot understand the complaints. This is a unique chance to get close to the top of Europe's highest active volcano We drove to Sapenzia in a hire Fiat Panda - satnav gets you right there and the drive is easy. This trip then gets...More

This was high up on our list to do whilst in Sicily, so we were willing to pay the very high fee to go up Etna - however I still think it is very overpriced for what you get! The cable car was rather rickety,...More

It's the only means of transport to reach 2.500 m. but it does not justify the price for it! It could cost 2 or 3 times less and the fact that it is the only way to get up, makes me think of a rip-off....

If you want to do Etna (which should be done), once you arrive at Rifugio Sapienza at 1900m amsl, by car and pay, you get to the mountain either by funicular or you walk to the top funicular station (2500m), then from there, you go...More

We decided to brave the weather after our meal and bought tickets for the cable car funicular to the 2,500 m altitude from 1290 m. We entered car 35, which rattled and the 'automatic doors did not really meet in the middle, there was a...More

This is the easiest way to get to the highest viewing areas on Mount Etna. It is quite expensive for what it is (over 60 euros each). Cable car up, then a bus ride, then a 50minute walk around the craters. The air is thin...More

We bought the full excursion package this past August. I believe this package costed 63 euros a person and included: (1) the cable car, (2) the bus, and (3) the guided tour. We drove taking the Etna South approach where we were able to find...More

The place is packed with visitors and it is hard to get rid of the feeling of being just a number. The ticket sellers might get you wrong information (funivia is closed for the winter and a bus will take you followed by us taking...More

Unfortunately unless you are very fit and have a lot of time to climb Etna then you don't really have much choice but to use the cable car to get to the 2500m point of Etna. At 30 euros per person I think the cost...More

We really wanted to visit mount etna but we're unsure about the best way to do it with 2 children (6 and 9). We wanted to avoid lots of walking since we didn't have the proper footwear and didn't really want to spend a fortune...More

The tours run each day. It is via a cable car so it runs as long as the weather holds. If there are eruptions and high winds then it is unlikely that the cable car will run. The overland part will also be dependent on the... More
