Great view, but pricy

Yes, the view is great as the Cableway takes you up to 2500 meters. I still think 35 euros is a tourist rip-off though. People just tolerate it because its a one-time deal. Which... read more

Great views from the top of Mt Etna. Dress warm though, it was a cold ride up! A little pricey though

We went up Etna on a beautiful day, rising from sunshine at sea level, through heavy cloud and rain, and back into sunshine on snow at the top, with clear visibility. The cable-car was enjoyable, and the 4x4 bus through the cleared snow towards the summit was great. BUT ... a lot of minus points: the "alpine guide" for which... More

The ride is awesome. You first come by a snow covered slope (in the right season) with black lava patches. At times you see neither bottom nor top of the path, but almost at the end there is smoke coming out the mountain.

I completely agree with kizkouz and so many reviews below. Unfortunately I had not read them beforehand. It is absolutely terrible. We went for the most expensive option: 200 euros for 2 adults one child. What that included was a cable car ride (standard one, just like when you go skiing) and then a snowcat ride to go up, but... it works, was easy and fast... however service was not too helpful and everyone seemed very bored. Prices at Eur30pp was a tot too much, especially if you plan to make this more than once and are a family of 4. We also expected to find some decent hire of shoes at the destination, but the shoes had very basic... More

Definitely not worth going up the south side. Touristy, no worth the money and the north side is much prettier. If you go south I recommend going up by yourself and stroll around for a bit. There is not much to see at the top and the craters on a lower level are as interesting as those on top...!

We went here the end of October. There were basically no lines or waits (perhaps 5-10 minutes tops). The cable car ride was a lot longer than I anticipated, but it was comfortable and the views were fantastic. The cars are supposed to hold 6 but we had only four both ways which made it very nice for taking pictures... More

Far busier than expected and not quite the experience expected. Expensive but like most others there you are there so just pay up and go but when you get to the top all you see is a hole with steam coming out of it.

The impressive thing about Mount Etna is, that the region around the volcano is rather flat and the volcano forms a cone (with a diameter of about 20km) from sea level slowly rising up to over 3000meters height; just imagine the view up there; amazing! :-)
