As with so many wartime relics and museums the actual existance of this "attraction" is due to the fact that it can serve as a focal point for Vietnamese Political nationalism and has propoganda power. The bunker is indeed the HQ of Colonel de Castries...More

just something for the history of the place, and it seems that the French army didn't understand much of the Vietnamese culture and commitment to reach independence from colonial powers.

You can just imagine being hunkered down in here with the Viet Minh firing on you. The rooms inside are pretty big. Makes the history real

Seems to be well maintained. Admission is very inexpensive at 15,000 VND. There are no displays or information provided either in Vietnamese or English to learn something. It takes less than 5 minutes to see.

Be aware the Bunker is closed for lunch from 11 to 1.30 daily. We arrived just as they were padlocking the gate. Easy enough to find.

de Castries bunker is just that - a bunker. If you like a dark hole in the ground, this is the place for you. For 56 days he was battered by the Viet Minh.
