The Folklore Museum is ideally located in Kastro neighbourhood of Mykonos, in close proximity to Paraportiani. The Folklore Museum is the brainchild of Professor Vasilios Kyriazopoulos and the museum was formally opened to the public way back in the year 1958. The Mykonos Folk Museum consists of three separate historical houses. The main museum can be found in the 18th... More

Interesting and the male in charge was very obliging and helpful - unlocking glass doors so photographs of religious votives (left for the virgin Mary in churches) could be taken and gave me an old postcard of the church next door (1948).

This museum has accumulated an eclectic collection of Greek items from the area. Don't miss the downstairs where there is a boat and some truly unusual historical items. They have some hand made items for sale. The gentleman there was very helpful and full of wonderful information.

This was a hidden gem...a very small sign inviting you in. The museum was located in the oldest home on Mykonos. A knowledgeable guide showed us around.

We stumbled upon this little museum and it was an interesting peek in to the history and culture of Mykanos. We were the only visitors and the man running the museum was helpful and oddly engaging. It is tiny and packed from floor to ceiling with things to look at. There was some loosely organized structure to the display and... More

We fell on this by chance and were thrilled we did. The man who works there is so passionate about his subject its contagious. The museum isn't well funded locally so please support him with a contribution. You'll get alot out of this if you chat with him. Don't miss the basement!

Knowledgeable guide, lots of interesting exhibits and larger than it looks from outside. Could have done with more printed literature to accompany the personal talk.

I decided to went to this museum because I love to learn about the history of the places that I visited. I really like the museum, a little bit small divided in 3 little rooms where you can have an idea how the people from mykonos lived a long time ago. Unfortunately I was expecting a little bit more of... More

This museum is broken up into little rooms with each room having a bit of a different theme. It is interesting to see as you can learn some of the history.

Thank Garry L
