Fascinating mix of sculptures and paintings gathered in a beautiful gallery building set in the deligthful Parque Dom Carlos I. Gallery staff very helpful about taking care of a bulky bag and helping me make the most of my time to visit.

In the Parque Dom Carlos we found an interesting little museum. Exhibits are described in Portuguese and English. Interesting paintings over several eras. Particularly impressive were the sculptures throughout the museum with some outstanding and huge works. The scenes of Christ depicted by the betrayal by Judas and subsequent trial make for a fascinating exhibit. Dedicate two hours for the visit.

We came across this museum as we were walking through the park. As the entrance fee was low, we figured we may as well have a look round and were pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable our visit turned out to be. Some beautiful paintings and interesting sculptures and a couple of exhibitions well worth seeing.

Located in a nice building at the Dom Carlos park hosts works of the painter Jose Malhoa among other Portuguese artists. Not really impressive but a good display of the Portuguese art style. Tickets for senior citizens with discount.

Museu José Malhoa is a small museum, but packed with many interesting works. It’s a good place to go to while away 30-ish minutes, or more should the muse inspire you. The art goes beyond just that of the eponymous artist and his cohorts, and offers good coverage of 19th and 20th century Portuguese works, including both painting and sculpture. Many pieces caught my eye and wouldn’t be out of place in the world’s great museums.
