Went a year ago and decided to come back for same reason – the views of Lake Garda were sweeping and cinematic. Pleasant to sit there on the benches with a nice breeze and just look out. Some day we will visit Lake Garda for two or three weeks, maybe more and just luxuriate in all it has to offer, which is plenty. That would be heaven.

Oh yeah, the castle. We spent less time exploring the ruins this time. In fact, I let my wife take an extended picture-taking walk while I just sat lazily looking out at the lake and only when my wife came back and admonished me for not seeing the castle did I take a quick jaunt around it. Usually, it’s the other way around. The longer we’re together, like many couples, the more we converge. The castle? Though it’s basically just ruins like most, it’s neat and we spent more time than one would think was necessary. It’s a nice walk. Pleasant. Peaceful. I particularly like the houses built into the castle. What a great thing to be able to tell people – I live in a castle. Cool. I expect we will back again, probably every time we see Lake Garda.

Beautiful stronghold on the hill overlooking the village and Lake Garda, entering under the portal once with a drawbridge you meet several houses lined up on a picturesque street.
This castle for several centuries, since 1145 , was disputed from several Lords for his strategic location, today is a nice point to watch Garda Lake an to do four steps into history.

Lovely walk up to the castle from Padenghe village, once there the castle is interesting but the highlight is the views out across Lake Garda. It is interesting to see how the houses are set inside the castle and people still living there, well worth the visit

We were pleasantly surprised by this interesting castle, what makes it even more fascinating is the fact that it is still inhabited, some citizens still live in the medieval houses within the castle walls. There is also a nice view over the Lake from its bell tower. Really worth a visit if you are in the area.

It's the ruin of a castle with small dwellings set within the walls. Apart from a very small theatre, there's nothing to see really except these houses which you can walk past if you want to. Nice view from outside the entrance but other than that, not much to see.

We decided, one evening after dinner, to drive up to this attraction. I was pleasantly surprised by the open and interesting atmosphere that we found there. In addition to being a structure from the 10th century, it also offers a Bed and Breakfast. There are also local citizens living in the Castello; one man was out watering his vegetable garden when we walked by. The view over the town below was enchanting too. If I were to return to Padenghe sul Garda, I would probably pay the Castello another visit.

This was an interesting area where people are still occupying medieval houses inside the castle walls. Worth a quick visit if in the area.

Surprisingly smaller then you'd think but very interesting for a wander around and a nosy at the views & the little houses of people still living in the castle.

Currently undergoing restoration.
