After eight days of touring Chiapas, the visit to Sumidero Canyon was "Icing on the cake". It was pretty amazing to take a boat through the canyon on the reservoir, for a 37 km ride one way. Seeing the Spider Monkeys in their habitat, large and small crocodiles, and numerous types of birds from raptors to fish stalkers, it was... More

We absolutely loved going on the 2 hour boat ride to see the splendor of the canyons. The guide stopped at several points where we saw crocs., monkeys, and various kinds of birds. I highly recommend putting this on your to do list!

It's one of the most amazing views you will ever see. It's a must if you visit Chiapas. The boat ride takes about 3 hours and it's 70 km long if you go take the boat ride don't leave without visiting this amazing canyon

The 2 1/2 hour boat ride up the canyon was fantastic. 3000' canyon walls display sheer magnificence. Crocodiles and iguanas on the banks of the river. Price was very economical for a half day trip, including bus ride to canyon from San Cristobal, boat ride, hour at Chiapa de Corzo for lunch or shopping.

on the riverfront, just a few minuts walk from the town square are two mian boat tour companies, if you walk further down the river front i saw another boat company but we opted to go with the closer ones, there are restaurants and nut vendors, hat vendors to keep you occupied until you disembark, we didnt wait longer than... We took a boat ride with our small group into the Sumidero Canyon on a Friday which is less crowded and the water was not as choppy. Our group enjoyed seeing the wonders along the way including a natural waterfall with all manner of flowering plants. Amust if you are in Chiapas de Corzo!

We took a tour to the canyon from San christobal, apparantely it comes up to roughly a same price as to take collectivo and a boat by yourself. Yes, the water is full of plastic bottles and authorities could have taken better care of it. The guide gave an excuse that the rubbish comes from the top with every rain.... More
