Boqueron Bay in Cabo Rojo West Coast of Puerto Rico Fishing Information for anglers the island of Puerto Rico is located just a short 3 to 4 hour flight from any major city on the East coast of the United States. Unknown to many, Puerto Rico offers some of the most sensational fly fishing and light tackle opportunities in the Caribbean. The West coast waters offer to any angler a fishing paradise .The area is home to a significant population of year-round resident tarpon. Plenty of larger fish also ply the regions bays, lagoon and estuaries throughout the year. The big Tarpon are present, presumably to take advantage of the warmer waters and plentiful forage.I had the good fortune to call the flats and bays my office for work . Cabo Rojo is a magnificent area to cast a streamer in front of hungry tarpon. I was presented with the options of casting to schools of feeding fish over vast shallow flats, working amongst entangled mangroves to pocket pools & tiny creeks with single fish, and working the magic of the river.

Thoroughly enjoyed yet another trip with Captain "Pochy". We hooked and boated a number of tarpon including one north of 100 lbs. The fish was too large to safely boat (for both the fish and us), so the captain positioned the boat in shallow water. He then jumped into the water to safely unhook the giant fish.

This is the 2nd time we booked half a day with Mr. Tarpon. He masters the art of hooking tarpons. Both times we caught plenty of fish including several tarpons we landed. Very spectacular.

I had the opportunity to go fishing with Captain Rosario during my Christmas vacation in Cabo Rojo. It was an awesome experience, we caught lots of nice size tarpons, a huge ladyfish, little tunas, jacks and more! Captain Rosario is really nice, knows the area and the area history very well. Overall a great experience that I recommend to those... More

I've been fishing with Capt Pochy for several years now, but this time was the wildest!!!! 15 plus strikes, landed 3 huge tarpons over 80 pounds and like 7 fun size poons. Doubles, triples , bang, bang non stop action!!!! Got a couple of Jack Cravelle and a Barracuda. Just the best!!

My wife and I have come to Puerto Rico several times, this was our first visit to the southwest corner of the island and Cabo Rojo. Fabulous time with an experienced Captain and educator. We have never utilized a guide and Pochy not only deliver a great experience. We feel it was a great price point as well. I am... More

My buddy and I went out with Pochy under less than optimum conditions. Using light spinners, we managed to catch several tarpon, a barracuda bite off, a small jack and numerous blue runners. Also caught an 8 lb. mutton, given to the Captain. Great day on the water, hard working captain, will be back for more.

When you hook your first big tarpon it's a big thrill. We hooked 3 monsters and landed one because the other two went for a run till the end of the line ... and beyond. Result two broken lines but still a huge rush. Fishing with mr. Rosario in the bays around Boquerón is great fun and a learning experience.... More

I have been tarpon fishing for a very long time and my recent trip with Pochy was perhaps my best trip ever. I fished for 3 days and each day got better and better. The last day was such a success that I cannot share the amount of fish we jumped and landed at the risk of sounding like a... More
