For those interested in Portuguese shops and specialty items in Macau, there is a new shop called Loja Das Conserva which has opened at No 9, Travessa do Aterro and Rua dos Mercadores, just 30 seconds off Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, the main street which passes through the city centre of Macau. Loja Das Conserva is a tidy, well organised... More

I thought this was the main road of Macau. Everything was just here. It was like city centre (local food, pharmacy, shops). Unfortunately, it was always crowded at bus stops especially in the morning and rush hour. Since there was tiny space so it was quite dificult for tourists like us to walk through or even ask for directions (They... More

I want to share a road in Macau, but I don’t know how to say it in English. So that I use its Portuguese name and it’s easy for you to find it. I have studied in Macau for almost one year, and that already become one of my habits to visit Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro every weekend. Last night,... More

We were taken to this area by friends who live in Macau and were just walking along heading to the Sofitel to go up to the top to look out over China/Macau when we came across the tiny Exhibition of a pawnshop. The Cost is 5 MOP to enter and although it is tiny and not much there I found... More

Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro is unfortunately quite crowded with shoulder to shoulder foot traffic, heavy road traffic and noise during the middle of the day. However, in the early hours of the day and evening time, it can actually be a rather pleasant little place to take stroll. There are a handful of interesting heritage buildings along Avenida de Almeida... More

This avenue divides the older part of Macau with the newer part. The area around the street are beautiful. It makes you feel like you are not in China.

This avenue runs from the Sofitel to the Senado Square (Senate Square) in the heart of the city. It takes about ten minutes to walk. Nothing really special except that it gives you a good feeling of Macau life. There are shops under the arcades. There are also good examples of Chinese-Portuguese buildings along the way. Some have been nicely... More

Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro is not so much an attraction as it is a drop off point as well as a natural divide for the Macau World Heritage collection of attractions. While most of the famous attractions are to the north of this Avenue, an equal number are to the south and southwest. Most visitors, especially day-trippers from Hong Kong... More
