Maritime Museum is located in Mainland Macau right in front of A-Ma's temple. Wasn't Planing on visiting but since I was there and the entrance costed me only 10 MOP, I decided to take a try. The Museum has 3 floors and it's separated by "themes", so in the ground they have the Maritime Ethnology Exhibition, 1st floor Maritime History... More

My cruise ship (the Pacific Princess) was in Hong Kong on 3/25/2013 but I decided that I would visit Macao. I took the St. Paul Cathedral, Maritime Museum and A Ma Temple Tour. Of those three, I enjoyed the Maritime Museum the most. The history of Macao and the sea is all explained beautifully by the exhibits. Likewise the connection... More

I was reluctant to go inside and it didn't felt like a attractive museum, since i had time, i went inside and saw lots of collections. But its boring in the end and just a time killer.

I popped in because I was exhausted from the summer heat and burning ghost money at A-Ma temple. I thought I'd pay for a ticket just to get cool, but I found the exhibits interesting and well-thought out. Also, it was really cool inside.

Built on the site where the Portuguese first landed, it's a glimpse into their maritime history in the South China Seas, as well as a look at local fisher families, their costumes, fishing techniques, boat models and so on. The museum includes a souvenir shop near the exit.

You can learn a lot about the main business in ancient Macao - fishery. You will know about national holidays, myths, legends, Portuguese-Macao maritime experience exchange and recent Macao navigable changes. Souvenirs and big aquariums at the exit.

We walked down to the museum from the historic centre (an interesting walk and not that far) and were delighted to find this new museum. The displays are really interesting and very well laid-out, it's a delightful place to visit for an hour or two and the area surrounding the museum (the temple and the big square) are a very... Very educational and fun too. Illustrates Macau's maritime past in a fun way and there is plenty for kids to do and touch. If the weather is bad you could spend a few hours here. The temple is across the road so it's a two in one visit. Three in one if you go to the church on the hill... More
