Costruita a fine ‘500 presenta un movimentato aspetto esterno con la facciata di stile rinascimentale, la torre campanaria a base quadra e la cupola rivestita di piastrelle di maiolica. All’interno, a tre navate, le cui forme barocche originarie furono eliminate o modificate nel corso del restauro ottocentesco, è possibile ammirare affreschi con episodi della vita di San Giovanni Battista eseguiti dal pittore locale Gennaro Pardo nel 1901, dopo che un incendio aveva distrutto le pitture originali. L’ opera più rilevante è la splendida statua raffigurante San Giovanni Battista, datata 1522, commissionata ad Antonello Gagini, tra le non molte opere firmate e datate del grande scultore palermitano.

Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista, realizzata nel 1589, si presenta a tre navate e transetto lungo, con due file di colonne collegate in alto da archi a tutto sesto. Dopo l'incendio del 1898, che distrusse gli affreschi originali, la chiesa venne riaffrescata, dal pittore Gennaro Pardo (1900-1901). All'interno si conserva la statua in marmo di San Giovanni Battista realizzata nel 1521 dallo scultore Antonello Gagini

La si incontra seguendo il percorso del centro storico, tra palazzi antichi e svariate chiese, si riesce a trascorre una tranquilla mattinata a Castelvetrano

La fontana a vasche verticale si conclude con una ninfa posta alla sommità. Un monumento significativo anche nell'impianto prospettico della piazza di qualche anno successivo, ma resta un esempio importante di ingegneria idraulica voluto dal Principe Carlo Aragona Tagliavia che dalle sorgenti di Bigini porta l'acqua potabile nella città e all'interno del Palazzo Ducale (realizzato sui resti del Castrum Bellum Videre voluto da Federico II di Svevia).

Costruita tra la fine del '500 e l'inizio del '600, è stata ampiamente rimaneggiata nel XVIII e nel XIX sec. con la sostituzione della cupola originaria con l'attuale che ricalca quella della cattedrale di Palermo. Il restauro delle tele e delle decorazioni interne sarebbe potuto essere più rispettoso delle opere originarie e non sovraccaricarle di colore.

E' la chiesa del patrono di Castelvetrano; antica come costruzione, è stata ampiamente rimaneggiata nel corso dei tempi, fino ad assumere una discutibile connotazione neoclassica, con stucchi e colori troppo evidenti.

Troppo apprezzata dalle altre recensioni forse perchè custodisce la statua del santo protettore.
In realtà è una chiesa prettamente neoclassica, armoniosa nei suoi volumi compatti, ma orribilmente restaurata con sovraccarico di colori.
C'è molto di meglio
