We're a group with young and seniors and a pushchair in tow. I was expecting our driver to drop us at the train station where I was told there's a cafe my mum could wait at while the rest of us make the 30min one-way...More

There are two large viaducts that cross the landwasser river - one near Wiesen and this one near Filisur. They are quite close to each other and easy to confuse. Both are beautiful, however the Wiesen one is much larger and more famous. You can...More

If you have some time on your way to St. Moritz, Bernina or Davos, it is well worth stoping at Filisur, a beautiful village with typical painted houses dating from year 1500 and lesser. It is located 5 minutes down the train station. You can...More

We spent the night in Filisur so we could see the Landwasser Viaduct, supposedly a milestone in Swiss engineering. It's okay. Simply okay. Don't make a special trip to see it, but if you're close by, it's a nice detour. When you get off the...More

There are 2 walks to view the Viaduct, one which goes to the viewing platform and the other which follows the river to the base of the viaduct. Both start outside the FILISUR train station and there are several large boards with maps and information....More

This a single track six-arched curved limestone railway viaduct. It spans the Landwasser River between Schmitten and Filisur, in the Canton (similar...More

Worthy of the UNESCO heritage award. A variety of viewing points, access from Filisur station or car park under the viaduct. Some paths easier, some more demanding, stout footwear recommended for any of them. Well constructed viewpoints in 2 strategic locations, excellent for photography.

Even in the pouring rain, it is worth a walk to one of the viewpoints to watch the train enter or pop out of the tunnel in the rock face. An engineering marvel. Historic and beautiful.

I would like to know directions on how to reach the viewpoint on the hill that is on the left side of the Landwasser Viaduct. The village a bit higher on that hill is Schmitten. I can't see a trail on the google map, but I see many images taken from the same exact spot, showing the tunnel going through the mountain, so there must be a viewpoint right above the train rail on that hill. I am arriving by car, so I would also like to know where is the closest and most recommended place to park to hike to that place. Thank you

There is walking path from Filisur to this place. You find it on the "Schweiz Mobil" map - Google has not everything on their data. The closest point for parking the car would be just off the street close to Solas Davains... More
