Not Just your Magellan's Cross

We visited it during my first tour in Cebu last 2010. It is a good place to see to feel more the history and how the Christianity spread in Philippines Visited 2010

A visit to Philippine history - nice place to visit. A few things to see in one place. Worth to check out for tourists, you can also buy some souvenirs.

While in there, you will enjoy a high loud music. Magellan shrine is very close to Lapu Lapu statue, few meters only. You can see Magellan Mark also. The port where the war occur as well

This provides a little bit of history along with the Lapu-Lapu statue and the park. The history is brief but you get the idea of what happened here. We came during low tide and it is interesting to see the ocean floor and the number of people picking crabs up off the floor. Would have loved to seen this at... More

Interesting venue to see when on Mactan Island. A couple plaques give the history, and the Lapu Lapu statue is adjacent. Worth visiting when you are in the area, but I wouldn't drive too far out of the way to visit.

You will find out some amazing facts abut Philippines colonisation by Spain and a few tribal facts but mostly you will get haggling practise. Nearby - behind the big stage - there are some pretty good seafood restaurants ... well fresh seafood anyways ...

In reality, this is nothing but a replica wooden cross that was on Magellan's ship. It holds significance for the Filipino people and for this reason should be respected but as a tourist it is something that can be missed. Better to spend more time looking at the church next door.
