We didn't go up the Kiloopa Fell but instead tried the Toboggan Slope which is one of the longest in Europe. It is located within walking distance from the Saariselka town, on the left hand side immediately after the round-about heading to the Ski Resort. The slope has steep and gentle part, is wide and therefore ensure a rather safe... More

If you have the time and spirit, you should take a walk to the top of the Kiilopää fell. Round trip to the top from the parking lot is around 4,5 km and there is some wooden stairs to ease up the trip. If you are lucky, you can see some reindeers on your way up.

We visited the Kiilopaa restaurant after a nice hike in the fells. It was not very busy time, so the place looked huge. But i can imagine how packed it is during the high season. We had to order and pay at the counter and the food was served to our table. I was impressed with the creativity of the... More

We are staying at Kakenslautten(sp?) & cross county skied about 6 km to get here. Great cafeteria for lunch. We were tired so took the bus back- 5 euros. The trail system is amazing with lighted trails- too cold at night for us. Trails are rated for difficulty & go all amazing distances & terrain. We did a loop yesterday... More

Best done with show shoes or skis but entirely different routes. Birds eye view of the town below. For us the highlight was a herd of 8 reindeers.

We booked a 10-person cabin with indoor sauna for 13 euros per night per person (awesome price!!). The cabin was cozy and beautiful, and the surroundings were gorgeous. We rented Nordic skis at the reception (16 euros per person, super cheap too!) and skied on the tracks that completely surround the resort. It was an amazing experience in such a... More

Small, down-to-earth hiking centre. Gate to UKK national park. We were staying at Saariselkä and took day trip to Kiilopää with our own car. We have 7 and 6-years old children. We hiked to the top of the Kiilopää fell, came back and bought tickets to traditional smoke sauna. We dipped ourselves in to 9-degrees brook and went back to... More

It's really really small. The main aim was to see aurora borealis. But unfortunately the weather was too cloudy can't see any during my stay! Anyway, we joined the night reindeer safari, it's boring! Although its cold, still felt sleepy during the ride. The guides were inexperienced, seems didn't know what to tell about reindeer! Husky safari was interesting. Young... More

A great place to watch the sunset and rise within a short space of time, climb the triangulation tower, watch deer and willow grouse (after sunset). It can get very busy and hot during the day. Brilliant views across Finland and Russia. Shop has good quality items. Restaurant was fairly expensive compared to others nearby. Staff were polite but not... More

A reasonably priced resort in the Saariselka/Lapland area for cross country skiing. We went there to see the Aurora Borealis and it showed up on our last day. The smoke sauna and winter swimming activity was great and highly recommend it for winter activities.
