We were pleasantly surprised by the educational experience that linked black bears and the vegetation in the boreal forest. Our guide was very knowledgable. She took us for a hike around the canyon and explained in detail the qualities of each of the plants and trees and how the natives and the bears use them. We were also shown bear skin, its skull, different types of bears etc. The Rabaska tour on one of the lakes was breathtaking; we really wanted to be a little longer than the 45 mins allotted for it. Finally, we ended up watching about 14 bears, male and female, young and old and it was fascinating to see them from close.

Great family time with our guide Vicky!
We were lucky enough to see two black bears on several occasions as well as a coyote and a porcupine!
On the way back, Vicky offered us a one-hour hike to discover the canyon, it was really great! Many thanks

We took this tour because they promised we would see bears! It was one of the best tours ever. Our driver, though a native French speaker was fluent in English. She was personable and informative throughout the tour.
Our tour began with a walk through an amazing river gorge, du canyon deal riviera Mars. After about a 45 minute stroll through the temperate rain forest-like vegetation on a boardwalk and trail replete with stunning river views, we went on to a small pristine lake that formed behind a large beaver dam. We spent the better part of an hour rowing by 4 large beaver lodges on the lake. It was at once peaceful and invigorating to paddle and see the spectacular scenery.
Finally, after another short drive, we went to a covered overlook to watch two staff members feed the bears. On this particular day 14 bears came to feed at the feeding area. 3 bear cubs ate and then went off to climb trees and play. These are not captive bears, they are free to wander in and wander back into the area habitat. While the bears were 50 to 100 meters below and away from the viewing platform and seemed totally oblivious to our presence, we were all fascinated and spent more than 30 minutes observing the bears, our guide feeding the bears, and taking reams of pictures. All of us were reluctant to leave and return to Saguenay.
There were seven in our group, all in our 60s+. All were easily able to participate fully in all of the activities on the tour.

Had a wonderful day with our excellent Guide, Andi. She was so informative and made our trip extra special. Loved the Indian camp and seeing so many bears, not to mention the brilliant canoeing. Thanks to Stefan for providing some extra muscle. Martin and Cheiron UK

Ended up being with a busload of people off a cruise boat and I had thought we were on a private tour - check when you book. In the end we enjoyed it nonetheless and was amusing to be with other people too. Cool school bus to get to departure point in the forest, then an easy walk to waterfalls and various activities including bear watching. Our guide was very dynamic and entertaining and witty.

Their were five of us on the all day tour: a dad with two younger children and two seniors. No one had any problems with anything that we did. The tour of the canyon was great and our guide, Noami, was wonderful. Although French-speaking she went beyond the call of duty to make sure that we understood everything about the trip. Our visit with a native american couple was also great: he was the first totally indigenous hunter that we had met and he and his wife were fascinating. Lunch was much larger than we expected (and tasty). Canoeing on the beaver lake was great -- and we had the awesome experience of meeting a Loon Mom and her little one and getting to hear a true sound of the northern wilderness. As some have mentioned, bears were all around - there were 11 or 12 visiting our area and it was fascinating to witness all their interactions. We spent two weeks visiting in Quebec and this was undoubtedly our favorite day. Thanks to all who made the day so awesome!

My boyfriend and I booked the CRO tour online. The place is really special, we were in this forest where all the animals are free to come and go (don't worry the tour is safe:) ). In the middle of the tour we arrived to a wonderful lake where we paddled with rabaska canoe, i will remember this place forever, the quiet and the beautiful nature are simply overwhelming. Also super nice to see black bears in their habitat doing breakfast, so cute! Thank you very much to our guide Noemi, she is really passionate!
