From a distance, the sheer height of the trail and the stairs leading up to it were a bit discouraging. However, we were pleasantly surprised at how relatively easy the climb is. Probably not ideal for anyone with knee or hip issues, but the spacing of the stairs and the small platforms, which allow you to catch your breath from time to time, meant it was a pleasantly quick and painless climb. The view was incredible! We didn’t go at sunset but I can only imagine how spectacular it would be to see it from up there. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for a short and interesting hike that allows you to check the “I’ve been to one of the flat earth’s four corners” box, then this hike is for you. The community has done a brilliant job with stairs and chains, all of which assist the climb. Hiking app AllTrails lists this hike as moderately challenging, but if you are in reasonable shape, it’s pretty straightforward. Takes only 20 minutes up and back.

A nice short stout hike up to an amazing lookout. It is less challenging than Fogo Head lookout. The stairs are well maintained and make the hike friendly.
Parking is nearby along with a bathroom.
I recommend doing this one first then Fogo Head, the views are different and both amazing.
The Flatearthers have a stupid sign up at the top but it's easy to overlook.

Very short walk/hike that is mostly stairs/boardwalk. The view at the top is well worth the climb. We also hiked the Fogo head trail afterwards though not all the way to the end. If you only have a short amount of time I would recommend only doing the Brimstone head, as the views are very similar, and the Brimstone is much shorter than the Fogo head trail.

Serious hikers, average walkers, those who just love a relaxing stroll.... this is a perfect trail for you all. You can't miss Brimstone Head if you are in the pretty village of Fogo on the north-western tip of Fogo Island. It's the huge rocky outcrop at the end of the village. You'll also be able to easily spot the walking trail which takes you to the top. Brimstone Head is apparently on of the Four Corners of the Flat Earth... there's an information board at the lookout at the top of the headland which explains this.
Head through the village of Fogo along Banks Cove Road to Brimstone Head Park, where the trail starts. It's well signed... besides, you can't miss the headland.
The trail is a combination of wooden pathways, wooden steps with handrails (in the steepest sections), and a couple of very rough rocky sections (where you have a chain rail to hold on to). Whilst steep in parts, none if it is really difficult; just wear sturdy boots so you are sure-footed. It's about 1 kilometre up, and at a leisurely pace you'll be at the top in about 30 or 40 minutes.
The views at the top are extraordinary! We went at dusk, before the sun set. The soft early evening light was beautiful, perfect for some evocative and interesting photography. The views across the village of Fogo, and out to sea, were wonderful, and we felt blessed to be on this beautiful spot. And we were even further blessed as the seas beyond the headland were busy... with whales. We saw many, breaching and diving.
Make the effort... it's not taxing by any means. If you do go up in the early evening, do so before darkness sets in as there is no lighting on the trail.

What an amazing climb! There are a lot of stairs, but the view at the end is worth it!! A must see when in Fogo

Loved this hike. It starts out of the Fogo Island campground and goes pretty much directly up to the head of the Brimstone outcropping with panoramic views of the North Atlantic as your reward for the climb. There's even a funny sign warning you not to fall off the end of the earth!

It's a short steep hike to the top but what a view! Can see over to the Change Islands and back over the town of Fogo. It's a well-maintained trail that you can do in 20 minutes but take the time to soak in the views from above. A must do on Fogo!

Gorgeous vistas and fresh ocean air make this a wonderful hike. Beautifully maintained trails really help show off how proud Fogo Island and Newfoundland are of their great outdoors.

We were lucky with the weather and headed up on a cold but sunny day. It had snowed the day before (in late May!) and the air was crisp and clean. The walk up is very well maintained with steps to cover all the tricky bits. And the view at the top is quite magnificent. We didn’t stop for long as it was rather chilly but we were very glad we went to this particular corner of the earth!
We also combined the hike with a trip up to Fogo Head which was equally impressive. It made for a decent hike and a great afternoon in the fresh air.

Anyone been to Fogo in February/March? Advice?
Written January 18, 2018
I would think it's still quite beautiful - however be sure to wear ICE CLEATS and very warm wind proof clothing, and maybe hiking poles as it's quite steep in places. But the view is breath taking any time of year for sure!
