This valley was a requirement for me to see as the photos in magazines caught my eye. The visit topped the photos. The air here alone felt like the cleanest air I have ever breathed in my life. The 15 min trek down was pleasing to the eyes. There's is a small waterfall at bottom so trek all the way down. I totally love this place.

While going to Sohra from Shillong you can visit this Point. Either you can go Downstairs to two View Points or you can view from the Road. View is scenic only if you visit it in the Peak season.
Overall all a good stopover if you have spare time.

Our driver stopped by on the Shillong - Cherrapunjee highway to make us visit the Mawkdok-Dympep valley. We first had the hot maggi watching the lush green mountains and valley then we went downhill to the ramp built by Meghalaya Tourism.
The whole Shillong-Cherrapunjee and Shillong-Mawlynnong way is like that you would never like to come back to your city. So, whether this valley or anything else, where your eye-balls will move, you are going to enjoy the place and the tranquillity, peace, love, freshness and purest form of oxygen will flow into your mind and body.

It is on the way to Sohra formerly known as Cherrapunjee and falls under the east Khasi hills District of Meghalaya. From here the landscape abruptly changes into picturesque deep gorges and you get to see lights playing hide and seek with clouds and forming beautiful patterns in the gorge.
the place has a super awesome landscape view the kinds which supports a perfect picture with ur partner / family / friends.... If it has just rained then the view may be obscured with clouds but otherwise on a bright sunny day the greenery appears to be giving way to the clouds...

A lot of people were stopping here for either a selfie or a travel break in general. It may be great for tourists but has nothing special on offer for hikers or frequent travelers or serious photographers for that matter.

This is on the way to Cherrapunjee from Shillong. The valley view is good and if you love adventure, there is a zip line activity. They have two circuits. A short one (more for practice) and the long one which cuts across the valley. I think that's about 400 meters. They charge 700 for full course (2 short and two long) and 300 for the short. Its thrilling, but you need to be relaxed, else this can be a tense experience. I do not recommend this for children. Go watch others doing and take call if you really want to try this. This is run by the Pioneers adventure tourism. You can finish the activity in about 30-45 min

The first visit was to have breakfast on the way to cheerapunji where we came across the view point n saw some ropes, which later on enquiring got to know its zip lining adventure sports but short of time went forward to cheerapunji.
But somewhere in mind the ropes got stuck, came back from cheerapunji, again stopped at the restaurant had food n went for zip lining,
The group providing this are very supportive and make you comfortable.
And a suggestion take a complete package of all 4 ropes.
The view from the rope and speed is awesome, its a matter of seconds but will definitely make you FEEL GOOD and stays for life.
Be prepared with camera.
Must do.
Challenge yourself.

The meghalaya is full of such beautiful picture perfect views, and this viewpoint is no less, this place is on the way to cherrapunjee, as soon as you cross the bridge, you are presented with a deep valley with beautiful mountains on both side as far as you can see, occasionally a cloud will pass by and settle in on the slope of mountains giving you a spectacular view which can't be described in words.

It is just a view point on the side of a very beautiful highway. You can stop here to have some overpriced snacks and feel like a tourist.

I will be visiting Cherapunji in October, for two nights. Please suggest places I should not miss. I will be travelling with elderly parents.
Written July 4, 2018
In October you can visit to 7 sister falls, Nohkalikai falls, Mawsmai caves. Don't visit double root living bridge as it will be very arduous and hectic to parents. Instead you can visit the Single living root bridge at Riwai, mawlnnong cleanest village which is easily accessible. Dawki is must visit place from Cherrapunjee. All these you can cover in 2days.
