Cachi is a charming old style town high in the Argentinian Andes that we visited briefly in a tour bus. Lunch at El Aujero was delicious, the people we met were friendly and the place had a quiet charm. We enjoyed the scenery along the...More

We were driven through here by our tour guide. It’s a delightful village. On the edge of town we saw mass piles of peppers drying in the sun. What a beautiful site. We stopped for lunch at a local hotel. The food was delicious and...More

I really loved this part of Argentina, its hills like Nevada and the peacefulness of the town. However, there are lots of stray dogs that may follow you, so be careful of that!

We stopped in Cachi on our way from Colome to Salta. This small town in the Calchaqui valley is a conglomerate of adobe houses and typical, Spanish colonial buildings. It has a very nich church and an archeological museum worth seeing. It also has a...More

We departed Cafayate at 8 AM in our rental Chevy Classic for the 160 km drive to Salta. The 1st 30 km are paved and go quickly but the balance of the drive is over piste, a mix of sand and gravel. After stopping for...More

The rotten has some love places to eat and have a drink, and a lovely square. But it is the toy from Salta, that make it worth the long drive. Half a day is enough here.

Cachi is a lovely little town, visited by tourists based in Salta. By the time you get there, it´s around lunch time so you can eat some llama dish, take a walk through the narrow colonial-style streets and then head to the main square where...More

We loved Cachi, small and calm, you can enjoy the view of the Andes, not much to do, just to stay admiring the landscape, good restaurants and cafes, some stores, we arrived late afternoon and leave before midday!

With a service station for fuel, an auto cash dispenser (Macro Bank), several places to stay and to eat make Cachi good stop. The little town centre and plaza are quiet and attractive places.

It is possible, but not recommendable, to drive Salta-Cachi-Cafayate in one day. You would follow RN33 through Cuesta del Obispo to Payogasta, then RN40 to Cachi, then on to Molinos and to Cafayate. You can do this in one... More
