We can only recommend the team and will come back next year. - AlexSanta Fe, New Mexico1 contributionExceptional experience with a family-run business! This was our first organized activity in Bora Bora. Today is day 4 and it still stands out as the best. Picked up at our hotel to go to the dock. The boat went to several snorkeling spots where we saw coral, fish, manta rays, eagle rays, sting rays, black tipped sharks. On the boat we had music and singing with the family, then a delicious home cooked lunch, sarong wrapping lessons, and Polynesian dance lessons. Our lead guide was friendly and entertaining. We really enjoyed supporting this family business! No place to change on the boat so have your swim suit on! Also, you get a lot of sun exposure while snorkeling so protect yourself.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 6, 2023

- Oyuna T16 contributionsBest snorkeling trip ever!We had the best time on our snorkeling tour and Highly recommend this tour! So glad we picked this place ! Our boat crew was amazing and entertained us with live music during the ride and also our guide Max talked about local landscapes and histories . I was afraid of the deep water but Max made sure I could see what was promised and pulled me thru the coral reef. Private motu was beautiful and we got to swim with lemon sharks . Had best lunch and entertainment there as well. Thank you for the amazing unforgettable memories 💕Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten January 27, 2024
- Juan PChristchurch, New Zealand2 contributionsDon't miss the Bora Bora Lagoonarium Tour!We had a fabulous time during our tour with the Bora Bora Lagoonarium family. Max was a perfect tour guide/host, filled with information he passed on to us, playing and singing with grandpa, and making sure we were able to see all possible marine life and had a fun time. We snorkelled in the coral garden and Max showed us stone fish resting amongst the coral, snorkelled with black tip sharks and stingrays, snorkelled with the eagle rays and manta ray. We then visited the Motu, and snorkelled with the lemon sharks, which was a fantastic experience. Our Tahitian lunch was perfectly prepared by other family members. We then had fun demonstrations of how to wear the pareo and danced. Before finishing the day, we had an instructive walking tour of the Motu. Every family member did their best to make sure we enjoyed the tour. We had an unforgettable time and would definitely do it again!! Highly recommended.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten February 3, 2024
- John S4 contributionsGreat Tour of Bora Bora LagoonThis family run business gave us a great tour of the lagoon. We had multiple stops for snorkeling to see coral, tropical fish, sting rays and sharks. Throughout the tour we had live music and singing from the captain, grandpa and Max. A filling lunch on a motu was followed by swimming in the lagoonarium with lemon sharks. The tour circles the island with your guide pointing out various points of interest. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip in the South Pacific.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 16, 2024

You will see it all sharks, manta rays, all sorts of fish, corals, etc. only one remark, please provide water at the beginning of the trip rather than later on. - SEGreen10 contributionsDon't miss this! This tour was a great find! Our original excursion canceled on us 48 hours before & it turned out to be a blessing. Bora Bora Lagoonarium exceeded our expectations - a family-owned & operated business that made sure everyone experienced the beauty of Bora Bora's marine life & people. Lunch on the motu was excellent & Max was an outstanding captain! Highly recommend!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 7, 2024
- Olessia S1 contributionA rich experience snorkeling and swimming with sharks and stingraysThe excursion was simply amazing, full of rich experiences. We started with getting on the boat and getting to the first destination - a turquoise water lagoon. Our hilariously funny guides sang and played for us. The fish and the reefs were incredible. Then we swam with the sharks and stingrays. And then took a scenic tour of overwater bungalows and got to a private motu island where we swam with bigger sharks and ate delicious fruit, coconuts, banana bread, and watched a pareo tying demonstration. Highly recommend!Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 12, 2024
- Ross k3 contributionsBest excursion that I’ve ever been onIt was definitely one of the best excursions I’ve ever been on! To include being in Hawaii, Cancun, Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel. During the eight hour trip, we went to multiple coral reefs, and swam with stingrays, black tip sharks, manta rays, and lemon sharks. The sites were amazing! And Max and Robert Uncle Bob were amazing guides! They were knowledgeable, fun, and personable! Additionally, the lunch was a special of barbecue chicken and tuna with rice and local fruits. I can’t recommend them enough! My biggest regret was not tipping at the end of the excursion although it’s not required they did an excellent job and they deserved every bit of it!!!Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 16, 2024

My husband and I always go snorkeling so we didn't think this experience will be any different than any others, but we had such an AMAZING EXPERIENCE that we HIGHLY recommend it to others. Max and his staff were crazy funny, knowledgeable about Bora Bora and so talented with playing the ukulele and drum. We were taken to 3 different locations and swam with turtles, sharks and many varieties of tropical fish. The experience at the lagoonarium was topping on the cake. Staff was kind and professional. If you can only choose one excursion, the full day Lagoonarium is the one to experience!

Bora Bora Island , described the most romantic island in the world, is located about 182 nautical miles northwest of Papeete and is an island on the east of the lagoon which was formed in a perfect shape after remains of a volcanic eruption. The lagoon is the third largest in the world and where the volcano was, which erupted about 7 million years ago.
Mount Otemanu (2385 feet) and Mount Pahia (2159 feet) are the remnants of the original volcano and the ring of islands which extend to five miles out from the main island keeps the ocean at bay. The surf that is created is visible and the sound is audible on the main island. The surf creates such a spray, although not visible, scatters the sunlight to form an eerie soft orange glow over reef which looks as though there is a light show going on.
Take the local bus for a round trip of the Island and visit beautiful Bay of Faa’nui, rusting remains of cannons left from WWII by the US troops, visit Matira Beach and then don't forget to stop at ‘Bloody Mary’s Restaurant’, a famous watering hole for the well-known throughout the world , it is located at one of the most beautiful bays.
Visit the Lagoonarium if you do not want to go out in to the lagoon and see fish in the wild.

French Polynesia is not inexpensive. So with that in mind, the $100 for a full day outing is downright cheap. But that’s not the reason to book this trip. It’s a family run and owned business and the fun starts at the pick up and doesn’t end until you are dropped off, with singing, jokes and the most creature filled snorkeling adventure you will find.
As others have mentioned, you will swim and touch rays and sharks, play with other a puffer fish and get up close to a moray eel in his natural home. We got to see a manta too.
The meal on the private island is great, filling and delicious and could easily be your only meal of the day, it’s that generous.
Our guide was the nephew of the owner and he kept us entertained with his ukulele and wonderful voice. He also knows the reef and lagoon like the back of his hand.
We visited three islands on our trip, and this outing was the cherry on the cake.

This family run tour group is a must do trip! We booked through our host, Nir, at Bora Bora Condominiums-also highly recommend! We were picked up and well taken care of from the start. First stop was the Coral Gardens; we snorkeled amongst a huge variety of countless fish and even saw a moray eel and stone fish! Next we swam over a group of at least two dozen eagle rays on our way to snorkel with black tip reef sharks and stingrays. Afterwards we made a stop to look for manta rays which come through the lagoon daily to be cleaned by little fish, but didn’t have any luck even though our guide tried really hard. Then we ended at the lagoonarium, a nice shaded private beach with a rehab for sea turtles and lemon sharks. A cute large pig and adorable island dogs were there to great us as well. We were fed an AMAZING plateful of traditional fare in handwoven plates and also given handwoven Tiare flower crowns, both smelled fantastic! Our guides were fun, informative, and even sing and play beautiful music for you! Bring extra sunscreen lol Definitely a highlight of our trip to Bora Bora, Mauruuru!!

My wife and I are on our 30 year anniversary and Bora Bora is the 3rd leg of our trip. Having been on many excursions we really weren’t wanting to do much but decided to do something while here. Boy were we glad. After taking a boat to the mountain island we boarded a shuttle to our boat that would take us out for the day. This is a family run business and we got to meet most of the family members and the dogs! We were entertained by ukulele music and island drums as we set out and it continued throughout the day. First stop
Snorkeling (magnificent) we saw eels, rockfish, and multitudes of other fish. From there we went on to swim with the black tip sharks and manta rays. The sharks numbered at least 30 and there were 5 friendly mantas that we were able to pet and demanded our attention (what an experience). We then headed to our next stop the aquarium but our captain had a surprise and we were able to jump in and swim above a hundred or so eagle rays (kites of the ocean) . Upon our arrival at the aquarium we were greeted by friendly doggies while we were there we saw sea turtles and swam with apex predator lemon sharks! After we were treated to cold fruit and water. Once we departed and where heading back we had one more surprise and saw 2 giant Manta Rays at least 15 feet in width.
I can’t say enough about the friendly people who run the tours or how knowledgeable they are. I forgot to mention all the landmarks and history that were pointed out along the way. This was one of the top three excursions and experiences I have been on. Don’t look anywhere else just keep it simple and book this excursion and make your dreams come true.

After reading the awesome reviews we booked the Lagoonarium as a half day excursion while we were in Bora Bora with the Paul Gauguin cruise. This included snorkeling in 2 places off the boat, visiting the actual Lagoonarium and a snack. The guide was friendly but little explanation was provided in English as to where we were going or what we were doing. The guide did play the ukulele and sing however which was very pleasant.
Our first stop was to swim with the black tipped reef sharks off the boat. This was an amazing experience and we were able to feed lots of butterfly fish that were everywhere while the sharks swam in the background. They seemed not to bother the people at all. It was helpful to have water shoes for this part of the tour in addition to mask/snorkel.
Our 2nd stop was at the Coral Garden which was beautiful. We got to see beautiful corals, fish and a moray eel. We searched for and spotted some eagle rays as well from the boat.
The 3rd stop was at the actual Lagoonarium which is a beach owned by a Tahitian family on one of the motus amidst the fancy over-water bungalows & 5 star hotels. The Lagoonarium itself was a bit tired with broken beach loungers, some picnic tables and sea creatures in netted enclosures. I am not sure about whether the turtles or Lemon sharks in the enclosures were in rehabilitation or not but no explanation was given about them and how they got to be there. There were no sting rays, the guide explained that they had all recently escaped from the enclosures when a net broke. Hmmm...There was a large wild boar hanging around the property which was quite funny! We did not eat there but were given a snack of fresh fruits to enjoy on the boat ride back.
Overall it was a good experience and great way to see the amazing sea life that the lagoon of Bora Bora has to offer.

We had such a wonderful time on our tour!
We were fortunate enough to be part of a small group. First we were led to an amazing snorkeling spot just off the edge of a motu. We then headed around the island to a reef to swim with the sharks and rays. Once we wrapped that up we went across the channel and the captain said “hurry get in the water, a ray the size of the boat is below!” So I hurriedly jumped in and got to witness a truly once in a lifetime experience.
We then headed off to the lagoonarium. It was an exceptional thing to see, a truly authentic representation of life on the island as well as some pretty wonderful food.
One thing to note is that we took the 3/4 day tour. I also noticed that only one of the many boat tours had live music the whole tour, and that was ours!
We enjoyed the true authenticity of our guide, he was worth the admission of the tour alone and provided my wife and I memories that we will remember forever!

Just been on this trip and what an experience. Family run business with people who really care that you have a great experience. Max was our guide and his Aunty was the boss, she was extremely good advising everyone of what to expect, the fact that we would circle the main island and see all of the lagoon and that the visit to their private island had pens where injured turtles and lemon sharks were kept to recuperate before being returned to the lagoon - brought in by fisherman who may have caught them in netting. Anyway, enough of that. The snorkelling at the coral garden was fantastic, we also stopped and were able to view Eagle Rays, jumped in again when we saw a huge Manta Ray and then spent time in shallow water being surrounded by Reef Sharks and Sting Rays. It was a fantastic experience. To finish our half day tour we went to the family’s private island to see the turtles and lemon sharks, whilst being provided with a drink and some local fruit. This trip is highly recommended, you will love the experience.

We stayed at the St Regis where the Lagoonarium is located so it was easy access for sure. They've done a fantastic job on making snorkeling easy and spectacular. There were so many different kinds of fish, from tiny little neon blue ones to fairly large size groupers. We have both snorkeled quite a bit but never have we seen anything like what we saw at the Lagoonarium. We went back for a second visit the next day and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

We had an amazing time with Bob & Max! Best tour we had in all the French Polynesian hands down! We had the opportunity to swim with black tip sharks, sting rays, manta rays, eagle rays, lemon sharks and visit a beautiful coral reef garden. Lagoonarium is a family owned business and they even took us to visit their grandpas private island for lunch (which was phenomenal). Thx for a memorable day!

Hi. How can I pre book the Lagoonarium for our trip in March? Or is it best to just show up and if so, what is the best time of day to visit?
Written October 9, 2020
Just show up - anytime is great - check with the concierge to check feeding times - have fun !! This is a beautiful resort!!

I'm a little nervous about this tour, how dangerous would you rate this tour? Is it child appropriate?
Written February 3, 2020
Regardless of age, a snorkel vest will make it safer and more relaxing. There is a current and taking a break from swimming is helpful. Take your own equipment. Fins are helpful but not necessary.

Arriving on a cruise ship on 21st January 2020 and leaving that evening. Is it worth waiting til we dock and then booking a trip to the Lagoonarium? Is the water fairly shallow, my wife is a poor swimmer and like to be in her depth? Do the tour company provide snorkels and masks? Thanks
Written November 18, 2019
Would recommend a private company that moves to natural locations around the lagoon. The equipment here was old and not in good shape. The fenced in area with sharks is too deep to stand. Talk to your travel agent or cruise line about other alternatives.

Hi, what would you like to know about this attraction?
We are arriving on a cruise ship December 3,2019. What is the name of the tour company? Will they pick us up at the dock where we tender? What is the cost of the tour? How many hours? Thanks

The day before we arrived in Bora Bora, we were docked in Moorea. It was there that I saw a woman holding an advertisement for a tour company to visit Bora Bora and her sign read: Bora-Bora Lagoonarium. They promised to 1. Circle Island of Bora- Bora Lagoon. 2. Stop to Matira Beach. 3. Snorkeling Sharks + rays feeding. 4. Swim Turtles Lagoonarium. They charged $100 with a $25 deposit due that day and the balance when we showed up in Bora Bora. We decided to book it and we were EXTREMELY happy with the tour. The brothers were so friendly. They serenaded us with a ukulele and drum and songs and kept us laughing! They provided all new snorkel gear (no one provides fins). They took us to swim in the bay with the sharks and stingrays, then we went to another location to do likewise. Then we snorkled a BEAUTIFUL reef before heading to the Lagoonarium. Swimming in the Lagoonarium with the Lemon sharks was quite an experience! They are much bigger than the nurse sharks, but of course, not aggressive. I was disappointed that there was not a single turtle in the Lagoonarium, but it was still a great trip. The tour guides washed our feet and shoes off with buckets of water as we got back on the boat, and then they fed us platters of fresh fruit and cold bottles of water. AWESOME TOUR GUIDES! I have a photo I took the day we booked, but she doesn't list a phone # or website. This tour was 10 times better than the one we booked for Moorea on the ship.
