I booked a trip with this company after doing some research, including inquiring with the locals in St. John’s. While they do appear to be great at giving marine wildlife and diving tours, their business practices are subpar. For starters, if you’re in the hospitality business, your purpose is to create a memorable customer experience. My tour was canceled, but I received an automated email confirming it would take place the day of my reservation. I also called to get directions to the harbor and the person who took my call was unaware of the cancellation. Instead of advising me to stay put, he told me to take a cab there. When I got there, there were no Ocean Quest representatives on hand. The shed where they keep their gear was also closed. To make a long story short, I talked to several employees on the phone and none of them could be of assistance because they couldn’t reach Johnny. If said Johnny isn’t around, they’re essentially rendered powerless. They couldn’t do something as simple as offer a ride back to St. John’s (taxi rides are hard to come by in Petty Harbor). I never received a call or message from Johnny, even though his employees assured me that my contact information had been relayed to him. A week later, I called Ocean Quest to request a refund for the cancellation (Yep, you’d think they would have done that, at least). I also asked for a refund for the $52 cab fare to Petty Harbor. They refused, saying that I had been notified of the cancellation the day before. I forwarded the email confirming the tour and a screenshot of the calls I placed that morning, before the trip, to get directions. The business manager had the gall to say that the appreciated seeing proof that their emails are reaching their intended recipients. I did not receive a response after that. I later learned they are not registered with the local Better Business Bureau. Going back to my earlier point about hospitality, there are people whose lifelong dream is to go on a seafari. The people at Ocean Quest clearly do not consider this when confronted with stranded customers. Even if it isn’t a dream, customers are the lifeblood of your business. Treat them well or hang up the keys.

I went on their snorkelling tour and it was extremely disappointing. Little safety directions were given and we were sent off by ourselves to snorkel with little guidance surrounding the waves and rocks. The visibility was horrible when snorkelling and foggy above the water. We saw little to nothing above or below the water. For a price that is over $250 with no whale sightings it was not worth it. When I brought my concerns to the team about the extremely poor visibility and safety I was met with no sympathy. I asked for a refund or partial refund because the snorkelling was so poor, but they did not think my concerns were valid. Even when the people giving the tour noted how poor the visibility was as well. I was super excited to go on the tour based on their online sales pitch of swimming with whales but now I feel I was scammed out of a huge amount of money. Would not recommend. Go to Gatheralls for a whale tour instead and save yourself a small fortune.

My partner and I did the kayaking and snorkeling tour with Ocean Quest and had an amazing time doing both!

The seacaves we kayaked into was like seeing a completely different world. And snorkeling with whales just a short distance away in the Atlantic ocean, was an experience like no other.

All the guides and boat drivers were knowledgeable and prioritized safety. We felt very comfortable and safe the entire time.

We saw SO much wildlife and sealife on both tours. And while seeing wildlife is never guaranteed, the guides do their very best to find whales and creatures and make sure you have the best experience possible.

Highly recommend. Did the snorkeling tour -up close to whales, beautiful vistas along the shoreline, amazing vistas. The crew was outstanding - knowledgable, fun, and a terrific driver to get us so close in to the caves. A highlight of my trip to New Foundland.

We did the 3 hour snorkeling tour and Meg and Claire were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Claire was a fantastic captain maneuvering the boat in rough water and tight spaces so we could see some interesting sites.

We were lucky enough to see some Minkes and humpbacks. We even had a few moments in the water with a mom and calf.

We snorkeled and saw sculpin , starfish, and all kinds of jellies. We saw many puffins and other sea birds. We were also taken to some interesting caves, sea stacks and a waterfall.

It was a fun outing and a unique way to explore parts of this beautiful area.

My friend and I had a great time on our cod fishing trip (despite sea sickness). We each caught a few fish, saw a whale, several puffins and even a shark! 5 stars for the activity and guides 🌟
