    2nd visit
I last visited this 8 years ago. For my 2nd visit, I noticed there were more instagrammable murals. Sadly the Sun Yat Sen historical house was under renovation. There are also coffee factory exhibits and coffee-related merchandise for sale.

    Taiping Coffee anyone?
The Antong Coffee was rustic, they give you a panaromic view of their Coffee Making using wood stove and have some machinery and parts to show the whole process. Inside, they have some gift shop to sell their products. Maybe cause we are also Malaysians, the trip was about half hour - all in plus photo taking. The space is huge and many photo walls. The beans at the front in sealed jars was interesting show of what type of beans to what type of coffee it was. There is more than enough parking space, can accomodate even buses. Only drawback is their coffee ice cream is tied to a karipap (currypuff) which you need to pay for both and not sold individually. Hence we didn't purchase as the weather was not conducive to eat fried/baked stuff. The amenities is not bad, have a sit in cafe, toilets nearby. The variety of coffee sold, 2 in 1, 3 in 1, O, chocolates, etc is plentiful. A little expensive. Tasted one of the packs we brought back, smells and taste quite ok.

I can imagine this might have been a good visitor attraction once. Now you can just buy bags of coffee, watch a video and visit the home of Sun Yat Sen's lover. The latter is small and without English explanation.
As long as your expectations aren't too high, it's quite interesting. Go by grab as the main road is busy with a very narrow footpath and a lot of traffic fumes.

Currently the oldest operating coffee mill (at 89 years old) in Malaysia making it one of the landmarks in Taiping. It was formerly the villa for Chen Cuifen a.k.a “Forgotten Revolutionary Female” and “The First Revolution Parter” of Sun Yat Sen.

One of the reasons for its unique aroma is their signature charcoal grilled coffee. Within its walls do you not only find coffee but also old artefacts and lovely architecture.

Dropped by to taste some of their delicious coffees though we are not into history but did manage to take some lovely selfies!

Located very conveniently near town and just a few minutes' drive from the train station. The factory was closed when we visited. Visitors were still allowed into the mill area to view a video of how coffee is being produced, with the raw materials stacked all around. Noticed coffee powder stored in big tins that is reminiscent of what we see in old local coffeeshops. The shop next to it had various types of coffees stored in containers which were made available for sampling. We were offered roti kok and biscuits to go with the free coffee sampling too! An enjoyable visit and the smell of roasted coffee still lingers...

This small old workshop for coffee Browing is nice and interesting. The only spot I enjoyed to visit is this boring city. But the coffee is local though low quality. I didn't buy some. Just bought some biscuits haha

Was driving through Taiping last Sunday and thought would be nice to drop by this so called oldest coffee mill in Malaysia but slightly disappointed because they dont operate the factory on Sunday and the place was very crowded. There are a few instagrammable locations for people to take photos and a sampling corner for their products as well as a store for their products.

Spent maybe 10 minutes there and also briefly walked the house that Dr Sun Yat Sen stayed in Taiping which was adjacent to the coffee mill.

Pros:

1. Could be a good educational trip for family.
2. Opportunity to learn & witness the process of traditional coffee making.
3. One of the oldest coffee mills in Malaysia.
4. Has ample parking space for cars & buses.
5. Coffee tasting is available.
6. Wide selections of coffee products including the Durian Coffee .
8. All products are reasonably priced.
9. Located next to an antique house. Rumour has it that Dr. Sun Yatt Sen had stayed in this house.
10. Shop is manned by friendly staffs.
11. A good place to have some unique & interesting photo ops.

Cons:

1. Lack of proper signage leading to the factory.
2. Its an open factory. Can be hot & humid in the afternoon.
3. While the factory is running, the place could be a bit smokey and dusty with strong coffee smell. Not too friendly to those with sensitive nose.

Trip Recommendations:

1. A visit to the factory and its coffee shop will take more or less 1 hour.
2. Therefore, it is advisable to tie your visit to other nearby attractions such as the Taiping Lake and etc.
3. A good lunch followed by a cup of coffee at Antong Coffee Factory can be a truly rewarding experience.

During our weekend group visit to and from Ipoh, we stopped at this Coffee Mill which, it has to be said, is only partly about how the coffee trade developed in Malaysia. Much more of the venue's attraction, and much more of its historical merit, reside in the fact that Sun Yat Sen, the father of republican China (and the destroyer of the Qing Dynasty), spent some time in Taiping before returning to the Chinese mainland to lead the establishment of the Kuomintang-run Republic of China. Sun and his partner lived at a modest residence, now a part of the same memorial exhibition housing the Aun Tong Coffee Mills and coffee-shop. This is not, however, a cafe, although you can gulp small cups of a variety of brews at the main exhibition hall. The exhibits are distributed in several sections, with tourist coaches disgorging phone-cam lugging hordes. A small, often little noticed, segment of Qing-China's final historiography was authored in this modest accommodation, now bedecked in Sun's memorabilia. Our group excitedly imbibed both history and caffeine. An ideal place to spend a couple of hours for those interested in either, or ideally both, of those stimulants.
