More

Dukezong is quite a big town but because it's winter season, most of the shops are closed for business. Since Yunnan area is famous for it's silverware, a no. of shop sells them in abundance. But silver is an expensive precious shiny metal so the price that they are selling is quite high and it goes by weight of the... More

Pretty similar to the ancient town in Lijiang and Dali in that it's commercialized and touristy. Nevertheless, it is different enough to make it worth your while even if you been to the other ancient towns. Lots of food, shops, etc etc. Most people live around this area.

This is a nice old town for tourists with many stores, restaurants and bars. Like all the old towns it is totally commercialized, so be aware and adjust your expectations. The temples near by are very nice. One can take many nice photos. Half day is more than enough. Food is ok but I recommend to rather go to the... More

This is my first time to Shangri-La County in April. The air and the sun are very good here, people wear very distinctive, I like these! But, after the fire, it's not as beautiful as it is. Maybe I shouldn't have come this season. It was a bit disappointing!

It has a really long history. One in three of this old city was destroyed by a fire 2 years ago maybe. But I still felt the old city mood. It need 2 or 3 hours to walk around. And there are some temples in it, and its free.

Feeling a little drousy although we stayed in Lijiang (2000 meter) for two days but immedeatly enjoyed the ancient part of the town. Although partly renewed after the 2014 fire with Chinese labour prices it seems possible to renovate with use of woodcarved housefronts and nice atmosphere remains. Be sure to stay in/near the old town. Wander the (compared to... More
