We were not told that there would be no English by the tour guide. As stated the Chateau looked better from a distance. Crammed into small spaces and give long explanations in French. Not allowed to look independently with English explanation cards. Left early and...More

Visiting the chateau is by guided tours only. Parking is free nearby the chateau. Our guide gave the tour in French which we understood but also gave us an English print out. She also spoke excellent English. Tour lasted about 45 mns or so. This...More

My guide describes this château as 'perfectly restored and decorated'. This is patently not the case It was the home of Chateaubriand but unless you are a fan of his, this doesn't make the château any more attractive. It is set in a large garden...More

We thought we'd see a medieval castle but got a tour of the opulent lifestyle of the 19th Century elite... But it is still worth seeing if in Chombourg.

We went on the English tour of the chateau during our stay in Combourg. Our tour guide was excellent and offered very interesting insights to the history of the chateau and area. If in the area I would recommend a tour.

Don't bring your kids on the guided tour! They will be bored within 5 minutes and you'll spent the rest of the tour trying to keep them quiet while the guide gives you the evil eye! Also, the castle was empty for about a 100...More

This chateau looks amazing from the road so we couldn't resist a visit. Parking was easy and close to the entrance. The woman at the desk couldn't have been less friendly or less helpful. Ok so language can cause problems but all we got was...More
