Jenny & Aimee with the entertainment crew have done a fabulous job keeping us busy. Miguel and Julio Caesar were our above and beyond servers each day and always kept us hydrated. The beach party was so fun and the kids really enjoyed the food, drinks, fire show and more!

We were able to visit this gorgeous beach as part of a tour arranged from Cabarete. We had lunch and were able to enjoy this beach for 1 hour. Wish we could have stayed half day there. Must see!

As beautiful as this beach is it can be dangerous with the under currents. Please pay attention to the color of flag posted on the beach. The flag (s) are difficult to notice because they are so worn they don't catch your attention when entering the beach area. If your not sure ASK one of the young guys running the surf board shoppe. They will be extremely helpful on knowing how to spot the danger spots! This is serious!!! In one short time frame there was three different groups of people who found themselves in a serious life threatening situation. I was in one of those groups. Our group of 4 were well aware of possible currents but because it happened so gradually it caught us unaware till it was too late!! It could of been the death of at least three of us as one person was able to get out of the current quick. I think before we even had a chance to organize our thoughts 2 guys from the surf shoppe were there! One guy pushed his board towards me which I gladly accepted and than he went straight towards my daughter to help her. The other fellow helped my friend to my left. I believe the owner from the board shoppe name is Junior. We have been back to this beach many more times but now we are aware of the strong underlying currents! I can not emphasize enough for tourists to be careful! Unknown to us and most tourists this beach is well known to the locals as a dangerous beach! I have now heard of more situations since this terrifying experience and one with a very tragic ending! There should be SIGNS posted everywhere instead of these worn out tiny flags that look so insignificant most people won't even Notice them. Please please please be careful!! I thank Junior every time I see him for saving the 3 of us that day!!!

This beach offers great food and all the comforts. More importantly the natural beauty is amazing. Close to Cabrera attractions, this is one of the must do activities while in the North Coast of Dominican Republic. Stay overnight at one of the local hotels and make sure this is one of the places to stop and enjoy. 1/2 to full day activity.

The people that work at this beach are the best in the world! Look for Ricardo, he speaks good English and he'll take good care of you. The beach is beautiful and you can get good cheap surf lessons if you look for Junior. The beach bar Lenny's is good and affordable.

The only thing about this beach is that about half of the year, the shore washes away and there's a lot of rocks. The worst part is that the wind will blow sand all over the place because the erosion causes a mad drop off.

This beach can also be dangerous. I know of at least one person that has drowned here and have heard it's the most dangerous in the area.

There's a lot more chill beaches in the area, but this one is a must-see for travelers and tourists.

This beach is the perfect stop when travelling from the Puerto Plata area to the Samana area of the island. There's a safe place to park your car, clean bathrooms, a bar, and snack shacks to choose from. While there are people selling things on the beach, they aren't overly pushy if you aren't interested. The fried chicken with rice and tostones was excellent (and super inexpensive). One of my favorite experiences of my DR travels.

Just a quick update to this post. There are two "port-o-pottys" at Playa Grande. Ask any of the food kiosk managers or other employees and they'll point you in the right direction. The facilities have been there for quite some time, so no need to go in the bushes!

On a separate note, if you go to Playa Grande you must go next door to Playa Preciosa (Spanish for precious or beautiful). Many visitors miss it because they don't konw it is there, but to me it is even more picturesque than Playa Grande, just not as big. Our family lives in Cabrera and we take all of our visitors to both of these beaches, and everyone wants to take tons of pictures at Preciosa.

Still one of my favourite beach around the area. Wide and comfortable to walk or swimming. Beautiful scenarios and nice to come and relax or enjoy the view.
