You need to take lots of water and be prepared for some rough bits and a steep climb at the end. The canal which was built along side it is very interesting and the scenery beautiful

No water in the river. It was very difficult to find and not worth going at all. The trip by car up the mountains is much better.

We walked from the village down to the river. Quite a steep climb, but so beautiful. There were people swimming in the river.

My friend and I just went on a three and a half hour hike which involved a fairly steep incline on an old section of a Roman road, then an easy part on a gravel road in a pine forest before heading down a steeper...More

The Hozgarganta is reachable from both sides of Jimena, the access from the campsite is the easiest which leads one to a beautiful area, suitable for sit and picnic or choose to go off on a walk along the marked tracks. In particular the Sendora...More

Had a lovely time walking up el sendero Miradores de Risco and then down to Hozgaganta river, we then followed the river along its shore line back to the town of Jimena. It took us most of the day but I would recommend this route...More

Try to take the walk down from the town past El Risco and turn right at the bottom, over some superb paths worn into the rocks, leading to a little "beach" area where you can swim around the rocks even in the height of summer...More

We were a bit optimistic entering this walk down to the river and then up again, it was a hot day and perhaps not so suitable for a retired couple, not trained and prepared for this walk. The nature interesting, but the river was smaller...More

With three hours to spare this was a lovely river walk. We were advised by our hotel to try this short stretch of the GR7 ( the famous walking trail in Southern Spain) At four and a half kilometres it was not too demanding for...More
