We always visit El Refugio when in Andalusia. The work they is tremendous and being amongst the donkeys is just so relaxing. As we said in the title it is our most tranquil place.

This place is absolutely amazing!! All the donkeys had lots of space and food, they were really well cared for. And if they want cuddles they're free to walk up to the fence & say hello to you. And if they don't want to interact...More

Fab place where rescue donkeys and mules are cared for. There are plaques that tell you the animals back story. Lovely place to visit. Go and support this wonderful refuge and pet these gorgeous donkeys. Only 2 euro in. Give them a fiver ;-)

Pretty much what everyone else has said really. Tie it in with a trip to the laguna a few miles away to see some pelicans too. Oh, and just about the most reasonably priced gift shop in the region.

El Refugio is a well set up and run sanctuary for donkeys and mules etc. Each animal has a pocket history that you can read and they can be adopted too to help raise money. The sanctuary is found along a dusty track near Antequera...More
