the museum displays make clear how this region has been a significant area for thousands of years of multi-cultural settlement that, in more recent centuries, has provided a spiritual centre for communities of Eastern Christians of numerous creed amidst a series of dominantly Muslim authorities.

I was impressed by a visit to this museum - I spent a couple of hours reviewing the contents, which included: an old photo collection; a European artist's works about Turkey; and an superb display of past life in Mardin. The staff here are to be congratulated for their work.

A lovely museum setting out the history of Mardin and also including its relationship with the surrounding area. A separate room houses an exhibition of photos from the late 19th century. All very interesting.

Very small museum with a permanent expo area (very 'folksy' about local cooking etc.) and temporary expo which was a bit more interesting. Only 2 lira to get in though.

I had a wonderful time at this museum. It is housed in a beautiful historic building and provides the perfect introduction to the history of Mardin. At the time of my visit (April 2014), there was also an exhibit of photographs of Turkey from the 19th century which was a real highlight. Highly recommended!
