Meeting of the Waters can be witnessed all over along the Amazon River. It is more defined before boats stir up the waters

As part of a cruise ship excursion, we sailed to the wedding of the waters and up through tributaries of the Amazon. Spotted iguanas, monkeys, sloths...even went piranha fishing! Just an amazing view into daily life in the Amazon.

Our cruise ship arrived at 0700 one morning after cruising up the Amazon River - a superlative sight in its own right - until we met the Tapajos River at Santarem. What a difference! The light bown, slightly "muddy", look of the Amazon River met...More

The Tapajos river is very clear, whereas the the Amazon is very muddy so the two do not mix. The line between them is very clear and worth visiting.

I was lucky and was here the end of the dry season so the meeting was close to shore. Defiantly something unique to see.

You will see it better from an air plane, but it is also interesting to watch from a boat. You can follow this for a long distance

In Manaus you can get other tours. You can probably get them in other ports as well. When I was there, I did not have any time to look for other excursions, otherwise I would taken some private tours. Good luck
