If you're looking for a tasting of rare whiskies, straight from the Cask, then visit Lagavulin and chose the Warehouse tasting. Iain McArthur shares stories, jokes and his experience while serving you whiskies that you can only taste as part of that very special tour. A must-do when you visit Islay.

We enjoyed everything about our trip to Lagavulin. Although we didn't have time for a tour, we were made very welcome by the lady front of house who allowed us to join the tasting part for a tour group that had just finished. The surroundings, the tasting room, the location and of course the whisky were all fantastic. Look forward... More

Another of the three distilleries on the three distilleries path from Port ellen, and well worth a visit to see the distillery and the whisky making process. Why not make a day of it and enjoy the occasion.

I got in free. The tour was good, but I didn't get to see the maturation warehouses, which was a big let down. The pours on the tours were generous, but the pricing in their gift shop was insanely high. Tesco sells the same product for 20-25% less. Don't buy any whisky from here, it is a ripoff. Diageo, get... More

Lagavulin knows what they're doing, and they aren't snobs about it either. I had signed up online as a Friend of Classic Malts, so my tour was free, complete with a sample and souvenir nosing glass to take home. Score! The tour was very informative and moved swiftly, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Make sure to leave time... More

We had a great time touring the Lagavulin Distillery. The tour was lovely even though it was a bit chilly while we walked outside. The normal tour was fine but their sensory tasting was the best! It's a very nice assortment of the best of Lagavulin as well as a walk through of different taste and smells that you get... More

Really enjoyed the tour, just a basic one. Our tour guide was very good and answered all our questions. You really feel like they take this seriously and are proud of what they make. The waiting room/ area where you sample your dram at the end is so cozy, plush leather chairs, I could have stayed all day. And of... More

Perfect for a last tour of the day, or for the experienced distillery go-er. Simply a sit down with a helpful guide for a tasting of 5 small drams. You go home with a tasting kit, which is unlike any other distillery we visited on Islay. It's a great way to dive deep into the spirit without having to endure... More

All distilleries might be basically the same, but each has something special. Only by visiting and taking a tour can you find out what that is. So glad I did. Now I know! Thanks Ian and Sophie. Just would advise booking in advance if you can.
