On arrival you are put into your jeep. The jeep is shared with the people you are with only so you can relax and feel your getting in the way of others. There is a canopy on the jeep and it can come off if you so wish. The jeep takes you through the park stopping at various spots. There... More

We booked a trip in a jeep while visiting the Elephant orphanage. The driver was friendly and helpful but most interested in showing us elephants, which we had already seen in larger numbers in Minneriya. We wanted to see birds, and although he had a bird book his knowledge was no better than ours. My advice would be when booking... More

If you do not get there early you can spend some time getting in. We saw many different animals including a 'family' elephant herd and many different birds, crocodiles, mongoose and more. Becomes a bit like Picaddily in the rush hour when an elephant is spotted! Every safari truck arrives and jostles for place.

We started at 5:30 and it was quite cold. Bring at least a jacket. The park itself is beautiful! The raw nature and the sunrise were great. It took a while at first but then we saw eagles, elephants, crocodiles, buffalos and even leopards. A tour is quite expensive (we payed around 80€ for 2 people). You pay for the... More

We went to the park entrance and fixed up a 4WD at the entrance for around 3 hours. We went in the afternoon. We saw a number of elephants - close to 60. We even saw water buffaloes, 8 crocodiles, peacocks, monitor lizards, mongoose, pelicans, painted storks, eagles. It was well worth a trip and not a disappointment.

We had a fantastic day on safari viewing birds, and other wildlife. Saw a couple of elephant herds including babies and juveniles. Lots of buffalo, monkeys, and plenty of bird life also. This is a must do if you haven't been on safari before.

We went on a safari here in January. The park was not too crowded and we saw some amazing wildlife! If you want to see elephants in the wild, this is the place to go. We also saw a ton of other incredible wildlife.

I was there on last December with french tourists and it was amazing experience. You can find a safari keep near the park which costs 5000/= and entrance tickets you can find at the second main gate of the park . I advice you to visit the park at 6.00am to see more animals or at 15h00 to see more... More

Not too varied in its animal residents but lots of elephants. What really impressed was the variety of bird life, we saw three kinds of bee-eater, three kinds of Kingfisher and four kinds of eagle plus numerous other birds and all spotted casually from our jeep.

We went to the park at 8 am was good timing though albit earlier could be fine too. At the entrance a guy offered to join us to help to track animals in the park. You don't need a tracker to see elephants but he showed us all the variety of birds and even spoted a sleek green snake. Moreover... More
