On the way to Pisco Elqui, be sure to stop in a 'Cavas del Valle' to purchase some nice wines from the valley. If you have the time, and your timing is right, jump into the short tour (in Spanish) to grasp a bit of the history and info. behind their grapes.
Really nice versions of Syrah and a unique "white" called Moscatel which turns into a great brut as well. Although they weren't willing to give tastings in the shop during our two visits there, apparently they do (if it's quiet enough).
Definitely worth a stop...and some purchases!

We've been there twice and never leave without buying a selection of their great wines. We particularly love the Moscatel Rosé which I haven't found anywhere else, and their traditional-method sparkling wine of the same grape. The tour is worth every peso, too.

Small winery where all wines are bottled by hand. Staff is lovely and they give a free tour of their place where you can also taste some of their wine before you buy them. Great experience!

With little awareness of wine(other than pisco) being produced in the Elqui we visited this readily accessible winery and were pleasantly surprised! We went in for a tour of the small facility, it was an intimate look at the function of a small and passionate process, and the wines were great. I strongly recommend the Syrah gran reserva, and the Late Harvest Syrah which i have never seen in many other vineyard tours. The stars on the label were also a perfect representation of the valley known by astronomers and tourists for late night star gazing. visit and buy your wine for the weekend at Cavas del Valle!

Terrible reception of the host of the place. When we arrived we had a very bad experience at the point that we leave the place without entering.

We arrived without reservation and enjoyed a small but informative tour. this winery is highly exclusive, wine may only be purchased in house or by internet order, but only within Chile...you can not buy this in a shop, all production is done by hand, and production is limited to only 60,000 bottles per year. We sampled a small variety of wines, 2 red and 2 white, one sweet and one dry of each, all were very good. For my taste I recommend their Syrah Gran Reserva (11.000CLP) and recommend buying as much as you can carry. Depending on your experience buying wine the prices may seem expensive, but you are definitely buying a quality wine and will not regret it, you and whoever you choose to share this wine with will remember and compare future wines to this.

We got a tour of this small scale family run winery which was in Spanish but understandable. The tasting was nice as well which included one Syrah, one white wine and 2 sweet desert wines. If you like wine, I would recommend this!

It is small, boutique vineyard by the routo to Pisco Elqui. It is worth to taste the wines, they have a sweet, late harvest wine, very good. Prices of the wine are rather expensive.

Thank you for passing by and enjoying our cost free tour with degustation. Our prices are maybe high for you and we are sorry for that, but please consider than we have 39,5% alcohol taxes and that we produce in a whole a small quantity of bottles so we do everything manually and not in an industrial way so it is more expensive... hope you understand that we are not trying to get rich instead of that we try to continue with this meaningfull proyect. All the best and thank you for your comments!

We arrived here (in the off season I guess, at the end of the day) and the place was deserted apart from a woman in the sales room.
We went in and said hello - she switched into excellent english and offered us the free tour. It was pretty short (10-15 minutes maybe) but interesting and she was very friendly, answering whatever questions we had. After the tour we were taken to the tasting area where we got to taste four wines (two sweet, two not). They were all excellent, the measures generous enough to enjoy and we chatted about them as we tasted.
At the end we returned to the sales room and there was no pressure to buy anything but she happily talked us through the wines we had already tasted and compared them to the others they offer which we had not tasted.
This vineyard is very small and (we were told) the only one producing wine in a region generally dedicated to the production of pisco from the grapes. Our visit was quite short but enjoyable and we brought a bottle back for drinking later in our trip.
