We hadn't been whale watching for 20 years when we were last at Tom's place! It was a wonderful day - we saw a sunfish, a total of 10 whales, seals and puffins - how perfect is that - Tom was a terrific host - and he followed all the covid rules so that all felt completely safe and cared for. He was also the first to site the whales advising other tours where to find then - but we were always there first to thoroughly enjoy them - next time - we're hoping for one breaching!

We had a fantastic trip out today. Tom has a great eye keeping up with the many whales we had the privilege of seeing. Dolphins, humble backs, birds including our favourite puffins.

Tom is knowledgeable, and truly cares about the well-being being of the whales, seals and porpoises we saw. He also knew where to find them! We always felt safe, loved the zodiac. Would definitely recommend Toms tour.

We were thrilled to be able to get out on the water on a perfect sunny day. While the ride was smooth, the conditions actually ended up being a bit choppy so the whales were further out, which meant it was easy to get out and we had to hedge for much more time heading back. Tom Goodwin is a master whale tracker and we saw multiple pairs and even a threesome of humpbacks. All of the other boats would see what he found and then come chasing over to to give their folks a few. Captain Tom is an excellent guide, gruff, but delightful, full of knowledge and very straightforward. They have great clothing to keep you warm (and safe) should you go overboard. Take the clothing. Of course, I somewhat counted on that not happening and brought a camera. We overdressed for the event. We were so scared of freezing and wetness, we actually ended up mostly warm. That said, better safe than sorry. Book in advance. We saw many disappointed folks who had come to Brier Island for an overnight, being turned away. Book in the middle of the day if you want to stay warm. Enjoy the ferry ride over. Don't worry, if there are more cars than ferry, then the ferry will come back for you. The Zodiac boats are fantastic, though you always have the moment when you realize that the whales passing underneath your boats are like 5 times the size of the actual boat. Make sure you go to the bathroom beforehand. You've got a couple of hours on the water. And if you can't hold it, wear a diaper. No shame in that.
