Golden Bay Kayaks is one of the best little kayak companies in New Zealand,...

Golden Bay Kayaks is one of the best little kayak companies in New Zealand, situated in one of the best kayaking destinations in the world, which is why it is such a popular destination for all kayakers from beginners to the more experienced.

They specialise in kayak rentals for a half day, full day or the popular 'paddle the length of the Abel Tasman', the only company that will allow this.

The Guided tours are a simple, no fuss, high value experience where the personal touch makes the half day spent on the water a memorable experience. Perfect for those that have not kayaked before or very little or for those keen to learn about the Northern end of the Abel Tasmans rich history, geology and wildlife.

Stand Up Paddle boards available and the easily accessible Tata Islands is a fantastic destination to explore the close up nature of islands. They are the closest sea kayak company to the Abel Tasman National Park.

An extra bonus at the end(or start) of the day is the great coffee and ice cream....PERFECT!

Upon arrival in Pohara, it was way too windy to kayak. We had a window the following day, however, and rented a couple kayaks for the family. The staff was very pleasant and helpful and committed to making sure we all had a great time. The kayaking was beautiful! About an hour into our adventure, the wind kicked up and... More

We went here to find out about hiring skirts for our kayak at our Bach close by, which we thought didn't have any that came with it (later to find out we already had some). A lady called Sharon greeted us with a smile and had her dog Yana there with her. She was so friendly and nice and gave... More

We took a half day kayaking tour with Tony to explore the northern part of the Abel Tasman national park and got treated to a wealth of wildlife action like no other! Shag fishing, Feeding their babies and flying over our heads, seals sleeping, swimming and eating Octopus, Oyster Catchers,... Incredible! The (almost) unspoiled northern part of the National Park... This was definitely the highlight of our trip to the South Island thus far. Golden Bay does a great job organizing and outfitting tours that take you through sea in the gorgeous Abel Tasman park. We passed many island birds and seals as we meandered through the bay, and the wildlife was extremely close-- some of the seals came right... More

The sunny and warm March weather prompted us to make the most of our Easter weekend in Abel Tasman by kayaking for the first time. Driving to Tata beach was easy and we were met by very friendly staff. The safety briefing was thorough and once we were suited up, things got underway quickly and before we knew it, we... More

The guide was so fun and informative it really made the trip. He managed to guide us to see rays, a seal demolishing an octopus, and knew every cranny of the rocks. Fascinating and fun.

My partner and I went for for a half day guided tour in the first week of April. We had the luck of having a fantastic kayak guide Spencer, who was very knowledgeable about the area and its wildlife, and clearly enjoys his job. Some of the animals we managed to see included the 2 shag colonies on the little... More

Had a fantastic day, hired 2 kayaks for full day, paddled round to Taupo Point and a little beyond (which is not recommended). Plenty to see - wildlife, birds and sea lions and secluded beaches which are easy to pull up on and otherwise inaccessible. Even though N Z's autumn the weather was great - we were very lucky.
