The Bardenas Reales is a arid desert region that was named a Natural Park in 1999 and incorporates 45,000 hectares of landscapes whose vegetation and rock formations are unique in Europe. The most famous landmark is the Castildetierra. It's landscapes were also famously used as backdrops for "Spaghetti Westerns" filmed in the 1950s. In 2000, it was declared a Biosphere reserve by UNESCO.

Brilliant place to visit and to take some walks. One can imagine being on another planet. In high season it must be intolerable busy and hot, in October it was lovely with warm dry weather ±25degrees.

We went in august, very hot and dry. But worth the visit as we were in the area. Quite a lot to see so take your time, maybe follow the guides. There is also a visitor centre where you can learn quite a bit about the area.

The natural preserve is accessible on foot, by bike or by car. We only had two hours time before sunset and arrived by car. The evening sun was wonderful for our pictures. We were the only visitors. Very pittoresque stone formations. A must see if you are visiting the area.

This area is very beautiful. I had never heard of it before. I enjoyed our drive through this other worldly scenery.

The scenery was stunning and worth a visit. Couldn't find safe places to pull off the busy road to take some photos, which was a shame.

I went with a local guide which was definitely a good idea, if not I'm sure 8 would've missed out on the best views. The Bardenes Reales are much more than just the Castildetierra, the rest of the surrounding scenery is impressive. Unluckily, it was a foggy day when I went but it still wasn't too bad - we were... You can drive around here free of charge as long a you wish. Go to the information centre and they will give you a map of the recommended route. I takes about 40 minutes to do the circuit and is worthwhile.

take care with low cars as many roads are made of rocks. Best period is september cause light wind makes it easier to visit. Tennis shoes are ok. 2hours and you 've visited the best climbing and original monuments.

Bardenas Reales is very interesting natural park, half desert. Beautiful colors and interesting shapes. It is must see if you stay in Pamplona, 80 km away and free of charge. Entrace after Argueda village is good option as there is park office where you can get park map (lunch ftom 14 to 15). Look for small brown sign from the... More

This is an absolute must to visit. The landscape is arid and dusty but so scenic. Numerous walks and drives. Take the drive around the military zone, it is absolutely stunning. Went in August, it was mainly around 40°c.
