Great Beach if you are staying at Poppies. They have the best section and the most shade. Nice to walk down the south end and swim in deeper water.

A truly awful thin strip of overcrowded dirty sand which doubles as an ash tray, dogs toilet and rubbish dump. You will be constantly hassled by vendors trying to sell you something you do not want, its true a polite "no thank you" will send...More

Not much to like about Chaweng to be honest... Nice beach but really touristy and smells aweful! Worth a quick visit for souvenirs but that is about it... We stayed in Bangrak which is almost deserted along the beach and great choices of restaurants and...More

We have been to Samui twice.. second time it was more trashy, noisy and somehow sea reeked of oil.. was not welcoming in evening to dip in... but somehow morning walks were awesome, no noise, fresh air!

Pretty crappy during the rainy season. But if it is just overcast then it is nice. The pebles hurt your feet though. I was waking and a local put an iguana on my shoulder . Even though I kept saying no. As I didnt want...More

Lovely blue water, clean and well looked after beach by the locals. As usual an array of people selling "stuff" - we either buy or politely decline with smile and we're generally left alone. A walk up or down the beach will show you the...More

This long beach (about 5 Kms/3.1 miles) is divided into three "subsets". There is plenty of room for who wish some seclusion/peacefulness [or they can visit nearby Chaweng Noi]. The nearby hotels usually welcome guests who want to eat at their restaurant-- but there are...More

I would stay towards the Lamai end of Chaweng- the beach is better. If you can find the locals market the prices are much better. There are plenty of shops, bars and cafes all along Chaweng though
