One of the best night markets in the area. Excellent choice of food, nice ambience, but naturally very busy. You have to be quick to get a seat! Despite that, the queues at the stalls weren't too bad on the night we were there. Only open July and August.

Everybody that we spoke to in the local area advised us to visit the night market. As a group of 13 we were advised to get there early. You need to take plates, cutlery, bread, wine etc and then you buy from the street vendors. We took note add arrived in the market place at 5.45pm, and most of the tables were taken. The whole of the market place is set up with rows and rows of long tables and chairs, and you just find a spot. We did a bit of re-arranging and got ourselves sorted out. The food bars open about 6.15. there is all sorts of everything, some better than others. As it got dark there was local entertainment - a male singer followed by a disco. Everyone was up dancing and having a great time. It was still going strong when we left at 11pm. Definitely a must if you are staying locally.

Really fun thing to do - certainly one of the holiday highlights for our teenaged daughter and her friends. Excellent range of food choices - maybe a shame there were not a few more local drinks producers (especially beer) as they are keen for people not to take their own drink. I Unless with younger children would recommend getting there a little later - after 8pm - as seating became available at this time and the atmosphere certainly picked up as the evening went on with live music and dancing.

If you would like to savour a slice of life French style try this event. There are so many points to commend but do arrive early. Be there for 5/30pm if you want to sit inside the Les Halles area. This is an old market area with all sides open and a covered roof. You wil need cutlery, glasses and plates although useful packs can be purchased on site. The food stalls are ranged around the outside of the square and offer a huge range from calamari, curry and rice, breads and fresh salads to pork and potatoes. Lovely deserts are on offer such a fruit brochettes, rum babas and strawberry tiramisu. The bars sell drinks or a cheaper option is to take your own. Belves is a glorious little 11th century town. Car parks are quickly filled but as you walk to the town centre there are some bag, jewellery, hair braiding and leather stalls to peruse. It's a great night out and well worth sampling.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience. The Tourist office being the organiser of the event is delighted that so many people enjoy Belvès’ evening market. It's not everyday you get the opportunity to eat a communal meal of your choice in such a beautiful historical place. Over the years, the dinner has become one of the highlights of many tourists...and locals. We look forward to seeing you again next year in Belvès !

Sorry plumedemon but that information isn't correct. I live close to Belves and the night markets start tomorrow night, the first of the season. They will run every Wednesday throughout the summer.

This was one of the best nights out of the holiday the food was absolutely amazing and the choice was very fast. We would definitely go back again. I had an amazing potato dish and my other half had a curry chicken dish. There was good pizza for the children. The prices were very reasonable.

Excellent! Nous sommes enchantés que les Soirées nocturnes resteront gravées dans votre mémoire pour son côté festif, et pour le choix de nourriture consommée ce soir là.

Take your plates, cutlery and wine glasses for a great night dining outside at trestle tables with the locals. Lots of cheap (€7 - €12 ) food options to purchase there and live music to contribute to the great vibe. Dessert options available too and the long twilight makes for a great night out. We heard about this from a number of others but the best tip was to arrive after 8pm when the young families were starting to leave therefore freeing up parking and the premium table space. Still all food available at this time and it was until about 9.45pm when some vendors started packing up. Felt great to be part of a community event not a structured "tourist" evening.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. People thoroughly enjo the night market. We feel that everybody has a place in Belvès night market wether you are young or not so young, wether you have a big budget or small one. Your tip about arriving later is a good one. There is still food to be found till the end of the evening, and people who like to dance should definitely try to come towards the end of the evening.

We heard about this through word of mouth and spent a really lovely evening here. Full of different food choices that we enjoyed so much choice between the ten of us. The kids disappeared off to buy yet more dessert, practicing their French without being pushed to.
No table and chairs? We made our own and set up on a piece of empty street!
A beautiful setting for a relaxed evening. Bring your own cutlery, crockery and glasses and there’s no unnecessary waste.
And, to confirm previous reviews about this, it’s definitely on! Every Wednesday during July and August.

Apparently there will be no night markets in Belves in 2019. The reason is abuse. This market was very popular on Wednesday evenings through the summer, but people (selfish tourists) were arriving early to mark out and reserve their tables etc., then going away and coming back much later. This meant that those arriving in the meantime were faced with a shortage of available tables and chairs. People were also bringing their own wine which is not in the spirit of the occasion.

So, the selfish behaviour of a few has spoilt it for everyone.
