Cruise to Albania from Corfu

8 reviews
Our Cruise to Albania from Corfu is aimed at adventurous travellers seeking something out of the ordinary.

From the Port of Corfu, we follow the Albanian coast to the city port of Saranda. After a short coffee break in Saranda, a 20 km guided coach tour of the south coast’s virgin shores and scattered islands is available for those who want it. Leaving the mainland again, we pass small picturesque villages and endless fertile plains that lead to a great lake.

The highlight of your day will be a visit to Butrint – an UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the centuries, the ancient town had disappeared under layers of silt and vegetation.

In recent years, however, archaeologists have uncovered some of the finest working town remains in the Mediterranean. At the edge of the lake is the ancient city of Vouthrota.

Lunch is served upon your return to Saranda.

In the afternoon, there will be a walking tour of Saranda, after which we depart for Corfu.

This monument is dedicated to Albania liberation from the Ottoman empire which occurred in 1912. It's set on the central square, which is quite new renovated (in fact, still under renovation). It's literally a 5 min pic stop for both - the monument and the Mosque down the street.

Close together are the Monument, the Muradi mosque and the stairway to the Teke Babi. The monument as such is nice to see, nice to take a picture. It’s a must see when in Vlorë but it’s not a place to spend hours.

This was very near to our hotel so it was only a short walk to see it. An excellent memorial to the escape from the Ottoman Empire

As of April 2019 they are working on the main street in Vlore leading from the sea to the monument. It is still under construction but looks like it will be complete soon. It is an interesting walk up to the monument but nothing really special. While this main avenue is going to be nice when its complete, apart from a few patio's and even fewer shops, the walk is just interesting. If you happen to be in Vlore certainly do this, but not worth a special trip in my view.

Monument dedicated to the Albanian independence day and the flag bearers. Behind there were the ancient city ruins.
