Charles Daley Park has been an annual tradition for our family for over 40 years.
This weekend, our family visited to celebrate a heavenly birthday for one of our family members, and at Charles Daley Park, his favourite outdoor place to be.
It was time for the ladies to use the restrooms and let me tell you they were absolutely disgusting and if I were the city of Lincoln, I would be embarrassed. I only wished I had brought my cellphone into the ladies rooms to get a photo of the conditions.
We saw a young man on the AV checking the garbage bins, but isn’t it also his job to ensure the bathrooms are clean? The garbage in the ladies room was over flowing. So we know he missed that one all day. There was toilet paper, ladies products, urine etc on the ground all over the restrooms. If the washrooms were cleaned or even checked every hour of his shift, I’m sure this wouldn’t be the same experience for every guest. Common Lincoln Parks! You can do better then what I saw this Sunday, August 6th, 2023.

Lots of free parking. Great place for a picnic and watching the sunset. Swimming to left with picnic tables under trees - wear water shoes if you can! Rocks and then calm, clear water. Shallow and sandy once you pass the rocks. Bathrooms available. Covered area for rent for events.

The Charles Daley Park is one of the better parks in the Niagara area. It is easy to access, just off the QEW between Hamilton and Niagara. Bear right on entry and up the hill to a big parking lot. Below are the park, a playground for kids and a beach at each end of the park. At the grandstand in the middle of the park, there are concerts on Tuesday evenings in the summertime. A bonus is that there are washrooms onsite.

Locally, the park is known for its views of the Toronto skyline across the lake and its wonderful sunsets. The park is in the perfect position to see sunsets.

My wife was there to with some of her girlfriends during a recent trip to the area & took in an evening concert on a Tuesday night.

When you travel along the QEW, the park can be easily missed. It's off of the North Service Road, which also has some walls to keep out the traffic noise.

The park is not very large, but has areas for kids, for swimming in Lake Ontario a a lagoon, with a boardwalk, where we noticed some folks fishing.

The parking area is on higher ground & has both wooden steps & a steep paved path to enable you to get down to the water. The concert bandshell is essentially in the middle of the park on a bit bit of an elevation. This structure has availability for concession stands, but they were not operating on Labour Day.

We did see a lot of folks braving the cold Lake Ontario waters & cooling off from the humidity.

There are benches facing the water where you can rest for a bit. We did, but we intentionally found one with shade.

There is no cost whatsoever to enter the grounds.

We visited with our niece to spend the day at the beach. It was nice and quite with a few people swimming but no rowdy people. Only complaint was the rocks, there are many and they hurt your feet for the first few feet walking in the water.

Great music, could use some portable washrooms up top for us Seniors. Possibly relocate food trucks also to upper parking lot as difficult for me getting up and down those long stairs!

This was the first time our family used the facilities at Charles Daley Park. As other people have stated it is a Best Kept Secret. We celebrated a 90th birthday at the park under the rented area close to the washrooms. We were close to the playground for those children who wanted to play and still be seen by parents. The grounds have been kept nice which allowed for us to spread out on the ground and enjoy the breezes from the lake. A town employee came by to make sure we were good and inquired to see if we needed any additional information. Wonderful time had by all and we will be back.

On the long August weekend, I had no intention of sitting in a hot stuffy car going to some destination that would requires hours of driving. My bf and I intentionally stayed home and explored doing things that were either free or inexpensive. From St. Catharines, the park is no more than a 12 minute drive. Beautiful piece of property. Families of all shapes and sizes enjoying BBQs. Such a vast space no one is on top of each other and lots of room to swing a bat, rest in a hammock, walk along the path, enjoy the children's playground or find a tree to hide away to and read a book. Best weekend we have had in a long time without the expense and travel time.

After supper on Tues. July 2nd, my wife & I decided to go to this nearby park to enjoy one of their Sunset Music Concerts, which began at 7:00 p.m. that night at the Rotary Shell. The theme last night was 50's & 60's nostalgia music performed by a group & right up our alley. Entry & parking was free.

It was somewhat humid & bugs were biting a bit, but my wife always carries a small spray can of bug repellent, so we were good, especially since the forecasted rain held off, likely because we had our umbrellas with us.

Despite having a lot of other folks there, we were able to find good seating and we, as well as many others, thoroughly enjoyed our down time & the 1 1/2 hour concert.

Afterwards, we gathered ourselves & made our way to our cars in the nearby parking lot for our short trek home.

On the way home, it started lightly raining while we talked about & sang some of our favourite songs from the concert.

We stopped recently and had our lunch at Charles Daley park which has plenty of free parking and wooden boardwalks and gazebo to enjoy. The park has picturesque views of lake. There are lots of benches and picnic tables to enjoy at the park. There is playground equipment for the youngsters to enjoy also. There are washrooms on site. A wonderful park to enjoy.
