I have seen this burned out hulk so many times as I passed it on the QEW going to and from Niagara/the U.S etc., but I had never stopped to have a look at it.
I was at the Lake House Restaurant and La Grande Hermine is a few yards up the road, so i had to have a look.
The ship is a replica of one of Cartier's ships and was brought to the area for use as part of a restaurant, I believe, but was never used and was abandoned where it is now. It was burned in an arson in the early 2000's and is now a rotting, rusted, burned out hulk.
I hiked down from the parking lot by the marina (not far or hard) and had a look. It is a rotting, rusted, burned out hulk, and nothing else. I took a picture and left.
If you have reason to stop there (Lake House Restaurant, Antique Shop, Marina), then have a look - otherwise, forget it and just enjoy seeing it as you zoom by on the QEW. Great as a reference point on any journey along there.

Visited this place a number of times on the way to Niagara Falls and mainly to show friends and family from out of town this replica of the ship used by explorer Jacques Cartier in the 1500s. It was abandoned in the 1990s at the Jordan harbour and was a vicitm of fire in 2003. It is a landmark "ghost ship"that is visible from the QEW on the way to Niagara Falls from Toronto.Lots of history behind it and makes for a grand instagram moment with the dilapidated image adding many dimensions! Very easy to get to .It is located right next to the Ramada hotel. Don't forget to take a pic with swans nearby! And yes it is FREE! Just park your car on the dirt parking lot and take a short walk down to the harbour.

A sunken old boat? Big deal. That's what u might be thinking. Surprisingly enough there's just not that there. Just under the bridge from the boat there's good fishing, a nice swimming spot for the family and it's in right off the highway and you wouldn't even believe how beautiful it is. It's a definite go to spot for anglers if you carp fish and I've seen A lot pulled out of there, sheepshead, largemouth bass, ling, pike and rock bass.

After looking at this ship as I passed by on the way to the Falls, I'm glad I finally stopped to have a look. There's a hotel nearby and a couple of places to stop for lunch. It's interesting enough to stop by and there is parking and trails around it.

Always saw it from the highway but today I got up close via North Shore Road. Fantastic object for photographers. You can view it by walking on a short trail. Love the history behind it, too.

Scenic and right off the highways. Would recommend for couples or just friends. There is the lakeside restaurant that's close by too.

On our way to Port Dalhousie via the North Service Road this past Sunday, we finally stopped to see La Grande Hermine up close. It's been there for many, may years & was originally built in Quebec and then towed to Jordan Harbour.

This ship is a replica of one of the three ships that Jacques Cartier used when exploring and the St. Lawrence River back in 1535. This is the largest one and measures 140 feet long.

Not too big ship but nice, you can see a light house from there. You and your friend can climb over huge rocks, go far to watch the lake. There are a small beach at there, your kids can swim, but watch out the sand, they are not soft. There are a parking lot, free, or you can eat something at a near restaurant,

This is a popular sight along the QEW which is accessible from Lakeshore Road. There are trails that allow you to get close to the ship for perfect photos. It is close to two restaurants and a Tim Hortons so it is a good place to stop and explore.
