This place is a place of worship for Buddhism. The area has 12 statues of 12 Chinese zodiac signs, and one colossal statue of the Goddess of Kwan Im (goddess of love in Buddhism). Nothing to lose if you drop by here in case you happen to be in Siantar.

By my experience this temple still have another step towards the completion of construction. But the statue has been standing majestically. There are another Buddha character statue around the Kwan Im. However, you will find peace atmosphere in this place.

En-route from Parapat to Medan there is not much in terms of tourist attraction points unless you like endless rubber and palm oil plantations. Just to have an excuse to stretch your legs you may consider a stop at Vihara Avalokitsvara with the Statue of Dewi Kwan Im in Siantar. It is a bit of a quiet place, good for... More

A beautiful and peaceful Kwan Im statue in the small town of Siantar. Different with common temple which is crowded , this temple is child friendly, even though you are not there for praying, the temple always open door welcoming you. Nice to visit before sunset.

After from Prapat, went to Siantar City, and heads up to one of the tallest Kwan Im statue in Medan. The place is nice. And peaceful.

Siantar is a small town in North Sumatra famous for its delicious local culinaries and very close to the Lake Toba. Now the town got more attention especially for the Buddhist peoples (and other religions as general), this Goddess Kwan Im statue is the biggest and tallest in South East Asia yet. Temple complex is well maintained and clean, with... More

The temple is well maintained, clean and has a beautiful classic design of a Buddhist temple with a signature gigantic Kwan Im statue as the point of interest. It is nice to have a stopover and experience the classic ambiance of the temple itself and spacious outdoor which has been decorated with 12 Chinese zodiac statue, small ponds with lotus... More

The temple was small and there was nothing much to do. However, the decoration and the pattern on the poles and the doors were classic. Give it a try. You will take not more than 20 minutes to explore.
