The facade of this Renaissance church is entirely brick. The glass chandeliers inside the church are beautiful and a bit unusual. But it is not so surprising, because the church is located on an island full of glass factories. You can see here paintings by Paolo Veronese or Giovanni Bellini, among others.

This church surprises us, because the outside is very simple and doesn't call our attention but the inside is beautiful and kind of different. There aren't many statues, as in other churches around Italy. The energy there is really good.

The church was destroyed i 1474 aby a fire and in 1511 it was rebuilt to the current appearance.
Its one of the two parish churches on the island of Murano.
Wall of the church
The façade is divided into three sections and with a 16th-century portal, a portico with Renaissance arcades and columns, perhaps what remains of the original cloisterand a bell tower, dating to 1498-1502.

This church was built in 1511. It is one of two churches on Murano. It’s a pretty little church. It is worth a visit. It’s not a long stop.

Quiet pretty church with interesting paintings. It's at the base of the crossing bridge, so it's worth ducking in and having a look see.

Beautiful Italian church on the island of Murano. Very peaceful and quite, ideal for a spot of contemplative thought.

Once again, we were just walking by and decided to look inside. Italian churches always hold surprises - some big, others small. Inside were beautiful Murano chandeliers and a Tintoretto painting. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful art in magical setting. Lighting the displays made a big difference. Everything is so close in Murano and it is easy to walk there.

This Roman Catholic church on the island of Murano is one of my favorites in the Venice area. That's because the simple brick exterior belies the surprises within. These include paintings by famous artists, such as the "Baptism of Christ" by Tintoretto in the right nave and "St. Jerome in the Desert" by Veronese. But the real standouts for me were the white Murano glass chandeliers, ranging from one to three tiers. They were absolutely stunning and unlike anything I had seen in a church before. At the altar, a depiction of Christ on the Cross is suspended from the ceiling. I regretted that I could not capture some pictures of these elements, because no photography is allowed inside.
Outside, the simple design at the front features a large rose window that looks down on a 16th-century portal. A bell tower looms on the left. The church stands in the middle of the island, across a small canal from Campo Santo Stefano. There is no admission charge.
The structure's history includes going up in the 14th century, burning down and then reopening in 1511. It closed in 1806 and was used for other purposes until 1813.

Unfortunately picture taking inside the church wasn't allowed, but this grand church, at the other side of the canal to the famous "Cometa di Vetro" is worth a visit. In this church you can step inside not hindered by tourists groups, or having to pay an entrance fee, as customary with more famous churches in Italy. Take your time, look around and admire the pieces of art.
