About
The Glass Cathedral - a newly restored medieval church on the island of Murano - offers visitors an experience of authentic Murano glass and Venetian arts and culture such as does not exist anywhere else in Venice. We offer live demonstrations of Murano glass making while you can have a drink or sip an excellent Prosecco while listening to Music. All of this in a XIIth century former church.

This was a great experience. The building is beautiful and the glass demonstration was mesmerizing. The glass artist didn’t speak English so he couldn’t give any information about his creating process. However, at the beginning of the “show” a prerecorded message gave a lot of info on the island, the building, the art of glass making and general information about the demonstration. The message played in Italian and English. The young lady who checked tickets also answered questions in Italian, English and German. The music had nothing to do with the glass blowing but it was nice ambiance to the event. We had a little difficulty finding the location. There is a large black gate you need to go through and then go behind a building. A sign at the black gate would be helpful but the local shopkeepers will point out the way.

The glass demo didn't start at the the time listed on the website (every half hour) and only lasted 20 minutes. There was no explanation of any techniques of the history. There was a soundtrack which kept jumping abruptly between songs without any connection with what was going on in the show. It was really the only thing I did in Venice that I was disappointed with, the price could be cheaper for the quality but I'd rather the price was the same and they had actually explained what they were doing and why they were using that technique, etc. The displays around the open rooms are interesting but you are basically looking around a wedding venue and there's no signs encouraging you to do so, it felt like we were looking around back-rooms we shouldn't be in.

Dear Guest, we are sorry thet you did not enjoy your visit with us. I think you ended up on one of our off days. Usually we are quite punctual with the shows and the explanations go before the show and during the beginning of the demos. We must have had an off. Hope to have you back on a better day. We are happy you enjoyed the rest of our city. Kind Regards TGC Team

Old building full of interesting glass art, plus some nice reasonably priced pieces to purchase if desired.

The demo consists of a short audio presentation of a brief history of the cathedral and glass making in Murano followed by a 20 minute demonstration of some pieces of art being made.

There is no real talking or extra information about how to make glass art. The real experience is seeing a master at work and watching a blob of glass turn into a piece of art in front of you. There is an option to include a drink as well.

A relaxing and enjoyable experience. Thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend.

It is a nice place, impressive space for events, we were allowed to wander around and then a demonstration of glassblowing was interesting as well. Indeed, there was not much explanation about what is happening, but much of it was guessable, if you think logically. In the beginning of the show, there was however a recorded introduction of the place itself. Overall - nice people, nice experience.

Was honored to witness the art of glass blowing. Truly an art of passion. The patience and creative smarts that go into each piece that is made - remarkable. I'm happy we got a nice art piece to remember this experience.

I didnt really have bug expectations, overall the demonstration was very interesting, but there was few explanations... also it only lasted 30min instead of 1h. So I was a bit disappointed for the price I paid. Before/after there’s not so much to see, but the building itself is impressive. The staff is kind!!

We were recommended to come and see Giuseppe, and were so glad we made the effort.
The building is absolutely amazing and the displays of Murano glass take your breath away - there is simply no comparison in any of the other places we visited.
Giuseppe and Michele were so welcoming and we love the pieces of glass we bought - it felt like a very personal experience, rather than being 'encouraged' to purchase something as we were elsewhere.
Would love to come and visit again

We were trying to find a Murano chandelier that would go with the Murano wall sconces we purchased 2 years ago. We happened to walk by their open door and saw the perfect match! Giuseppe and his father were a joy to deal with, and their chandelier now has a new home in our dinning room. There were very helpful with our international transaction and we were delighted that everything arrived safely, they are true professionals.

Most of the church they are also renovating wasn't open yet when we were there, but we will be sure to visit them again on our next trip. They are certainly on the top of our list of people to buy our glass products from.

Beautiful workmanship, good pricing, and lovely people.

After searching for hours through tourist trap, generic glass shops on the island of Murano I almost gave up. In April, 2015 I was looking for a one of a kind, authentic, glass fish that I could bring home to my mother. I finally decided to take a side street to look for a glass fish one more time. So happy I did. I stumbled upon Santa Chiara and was immediately impressed. The atmosphere was amazing, the glass was all hand-crafted, and the items for sale were genuine and original. This store did not have the typical tourist shop feel. When I first arrived, the owner approached me and asked me exactly what I was looking for. I told him that I had been searching all day for a unique glass fish and was willing to pay 300 Euros (Something I typically would not do, but as a college student I wanted him to know I was serious). He helped me look around the entire store, including the upstairs that was unopened at the time. Once I found the item I was looking for, he told me the story behind the maker of the fish. He then looked at the price and instead of taking advantage of me, he offered me a price well below my asking price. He spoke perfect English, was a very kind man, and offered to wrap the item so I could get it home to America. I would recommend shopping here for anyone that is looking for an authentic and genuine glass piece that is different from anything you could find in a shop off the main street.

We stumbled across this gem. The glass blowing demonstration was really interesting and worth a visit just for that. 7 Euro for adults (10 Euro includes a glass of Prosecco) and 5 Euro for students.
