Beautiful!

You can absolutely feel the love and attention to detail when you enter this maze! The map was accurate, and getting lost in the sunflowers super fun, can't wait to come back next year!

So cheery, peaceful, and uplifting
Sep. 2018 • Couples
I love sunflowers and we drove about 1 1/2 hours to see the sunflower maze. It was a beautiful day and the 2nd wave of sunflowers were at the peak of their beauty. I really enjoyed myself- it's going to be really nice for weeks to come as the third wave has not opened yet. Although I do not have small childre, I love the simplicity of this place and would have loved to take my kids here when they were little. It's hard to find this type of good old fashioned fun these days. I feel happy to have made the drive out to this little piece of heaven. Thank you Dakeyne Farm!

Cute farm, nice flower, but a money grab!!
Aug. 2018 • Couples
Travelled to Dakeyne Farm today expecting the amazing flowers and activities listed in the other reviews. When arrived lady was very rude as we were deciding if we wanted to spend the $10 each to walk around the maze or take in the beauty from afar. She suggested we either go through or i assume leave?
We drove all this way so decided to fulfill this trip with walking through the maze as I love sunflowers. Sunflowers were very droopy and mostly dead for just blooming not too long ago. Not much else to do other than walk through.
Would defintely not return again unless the prices were lower. We kept driving after departing and found a few other fields owned by farmers that were completly free and or small donations. Not a fan of a money grab!!

Hi.. its jen here.. the lady who you said was rude (which i guess is your perception.. but not how it was meant to come across.. im pretty sure i was smiling.) if i remember correctly.. you very rudely walked up to the gate.. making rude remarks about the field itself.. and then you asked for "just a photo". So yes.. after my daughter overheard your rude remarks.. i came out and asked if you wanted to go through... to which you replied you don't have cash on you. I recomended the nearest bank machine. I was nice and polite.. as one can be when their 8 year old is upset at hearing someone put down their hardwork. You judged our book by its cover. You saw the first section.. and made a decision based on it. Many.. many.. others have come and enjoyed their time here.. happily returning a few times in one season. Also.. sunflowers have a short cycle.. so yes.. our first section having opened August 18th is near its end.. thats normal. we planted two other sections.. the second being beautiful right now just freshly opening. And yes.. we have more to do than walk through the field.. we have kites.. and a beautiful view. As for calling us a money grab.. and leaving a hateful review.. well. Thats on you, my friend. We worked very hard to put all this together..and in order to pay for it all we must charge an admission.. portapotties don't come free.. either do seeds or tractor gas. We work from sun up to sun down to put this together from April to October.. only taking rain days off. (And then we spend the day catching up on barn chores and housework) We kinda feel its worth something.. and we have to pay for it all somehow.. how valuable is your time? As for your reference to the others sunflowers you found.. i hope you gave that farmer the donation they deserved knowing all the hard work they put into the things they do.. only to be dickered down in price because someone would rather buy an overpriced outfit than pay a decent price for said farmers hard work. If its just a matter of your not being able to afford our price due to financial difficulties.. we are always willing to work with you to help you see the flowers... if you had said you could not afford to go.. we could have worked something out.

Cool people, coolplace - super fun stop on the way through Nova Scotia
Aug. 2017 • Couples
We stopped by Dakeyne Farm on our way through Nova Scotia on our Ontario Bee Rescue tour 2017. This is our second time stopping in for fresh honey, and home made goodies offered by Jen Wilson - wonderful people, great views, real down east hospitality! If you are touring the east coast make sure you find these folks, well worth it!

Sunflowers!
Aug. 2017 • Couples
Dakeyne Farm is tucked away in beautiful countryside in Windsor and you'll probably pass the entrance even with the signs along the road telling you to watch! It's just around a bend, uphill, so a little hard to find. It is a working farm with a sunflower maze that's only open seasonally during bloom time (we timed it perfectly in August!) and costs $10/adult. There is an area to picnic and toys for the kiddos. The maze is basically just a trail that takes you through a section of the sunflowers that cover the hillside. There is a platform where you can go up a few stairs and get a great view of all the flowers and adjacent farm across the street. At the front of the property you can purchase some homemade goods like jams, honey and pictures. It's so peaceful and quiet there that even though it only takes a few minutes to walk through the sunflowers you'll want to stay a long time to take it all in.

Sunflower Maze & Butterfly Release
Aug. 2016 • Family
We had a great day with our 8 and 15 year old and another family with a 3 and 5 year old doing the Sunflower Maze.

It is unfortunate the dry weather we've had (great for us, not so great for crops) had hindered the size of the sunflowers though. They were half their size.

Either way, we had a great time! This year the maze was in the shape of a dragonfly so all the questions to find the answers to throughout the maze were all about dragonflies. A great way for kids...and parents to learn and have fun! 😀

After the maze the kids flew kites then had the chance to purchase Butterflies to release into the sunflowers. Although a bit pricey, it was a great experience.

All of us truly enjoyed our afternoon here, including the fresh boxes of blueberries we bought....that didn't end up making it out of the parking lot. Lol

Great spot for the whole family! Looking forward to it again next year!

Lovely Place for Family with Kids!
Aug. 2015 • Family
We visited the Dakeyne Farm last weekend (Aug 16). Even though we were little disappointed, we had a lot of fun there. Because of the tough winter snow storm last year in Halifax, it had a great impact on the Sunflower field. By the time we visited, there won't many sunflower open, only a few.

However, we still enjoy our time and had a wonderful lunch at the picnic table set up near the Farm. The owner was very friendly and beautiful. She gave us some FREE tickets to use on our next visit and asked us to wait for a couple of more weeks. We will certainly come back and can't wait to see all the sunflower in full bloom!

We visit the Farm every year to see the Sunflower and the Butterfly release. This is certainly a great place to visit with family and kids. I strongly recommend this place!

Beautiful sunflowers :)
Aug. 2014 • Family
Planned on staying for an hour or so for the sunflower maze BUT we should have planned an afternoon with a picnic.
So much more for the kids to do like fly kites, play in the sand, take pics with faces cut out of boards, hoola hoop toss, PLAY :)
