Much prettier than Peggy’s Cove and very few people. We enjoyed the nice hiking trails around the area.

Beautiful views abound here, it would be a great place for a picnic. Very quiet as well, a good place to mediate. I could have spent a significantly longer time here happily. Definitely worth the trip.

Beautiful view!! Well worth the drive and so quiet I could have sat there all day. Only a few other souls around and lots of benches to sit and contemplate the view. Was a nice breeze even on a hot day, just lovely.

We brought a picnic lunch and had a wonderful time here. It is remote but the views are spectacular.

I toured New England, New Brunswick and then Nova Scotia - all on a Harley. The view from this lighthouse was spectacular BUT, you have to drive/ride uphill on a gravel road. This is not a very fun event on an 800+ pound motorcycle loaded down with luggage. I would highly recommend this place if you are traveling by car.

Cape George Lighthouse was established n 1861, though the current 45' tall reinforced-concrete structure dates from 1968, the third lighthouse on this site. On a clear day both Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Island can be seen from this spot, 360' above the bay. This site is about a 35-minute drive from Antigonish. Gorgeous view!
If you're coming here from Antigonish, stop at Arisaig along the way to see the replica lighthouse there and, particulary, the beautiful interior of the St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, right along 245. This St. Margaret parish is the oldest Catholic parish in Nova Scotia.
Highly Recommended!

Found out a bout the Cape George Light house while playing with Google maps. Looking for some midday activity to enjoy the lighthouse proved to be a good part of the afternoon's adventures. The views from the promontory where it sits are great. Always nice to see local interest in preserving places of historic interest. The light itself is very photogenic. The grounds are nicely maintained and benches are stratigically place for enjoying the view of the Bay and Cape Breton.

Situated high above the St. George's Bay, this lighthouse is a great stop for a picnic or incredible view point for anyone driving along the Sunrise shore drive.

My husband and I ventured to this lighthouse on our honeymoon. The drive up Highway 337 was beautiful, just before we pulled into the road at the lighthouse there was a couple sharp turns so go slow but a great view. When we pulled into the lane to go up to the lighthouse I knew from previous reviews to just keep driving up until you get to the lighthouse as there is a parking lot that is misleading. The drive up to the lighthouse needed to be slow, there was a blind corner where we went by another car which was tricky. The lighthouse itself was amazing and there was a cliff behind it with the ocean so amazing we took some amazing photos. There is not a bathroom that we could find but there is a picnic table and a couple benches to take a rest and some grass to sit down. Overall this was definitely a good choice to see on our honeymoon.

I don't think that the lighthouse is serviced or maintained so I don't think there would be anyone around to ask you to leave but there are no bathrooms and I do not remember seeing any lights so I would be concerned about safety. Otherwise, I think you would be fine.
