Great place to get an idea of how people were protected by their fortresses. Rooms are available to stay at - excellent. Also great spa!

Clifftop fortress which is a great photo opportunity but may not be worth the climb to the fortress itself unless you have plenty of time. Situated on the confluence of two major rivers the views are stunning.

We didn't stop to climb up to the fortress as the weather was snowy, cold, and damp; however, what remains are the walls of the fort so the trek up is not really necessary.

Nice walk in, very ancient church, nice view around. You can include it in your Georgia trip when going to visit Vardzia.

Made a photo stop here enroute to Vardzia. The surrounding view is nice enough but don't think it is necessary to go all the way to the top. Save the energy for visiting the caves in Vardzia which is far more amazing.

On a way to Vardzia caves or to Paravani lake it makes sense to stop and see this medieval fortress from close. Don't expect too much of it, however the view and the remains are beautiful.

En route to Vardzia, we made a pit-stop in Khertvisi village, and took the opportunity of adding this impressive, strategically located fortress to our photo collection, without the onerous climb up the rocky path. It has been left in a pristine state of decline, without repairs or alterations, lending it a gravitas lacking in many of the other hilltop fortresses... More
